My brother called me a little while ago, talking a mile a minute (he had just taken a hydrocodone).  First let me say that my brother is VERY strange and a moonbat. He once wanted me to make him a quilt of a chalk outline of a dead body... I refused.  My grandparents bought 4 extra grave sites when they bought thier plots years ago. My other brother is burried there and so will my brother I'm talking about now. He is obsessed about who will be burried on the other side of him as well as on the other side of his head and feet. He talks about it all the time. 

Anyway, I could go on but it would get too long.  Here is where I want to ask you guys if you think this is morbid. He told me he was going to take a picture (or a chalk rubbing or whatever you call it) of our brother's headstone, frame it and give it to my mom for Christmas. First thing I thought was WTF?!?  I told him NOT to do that.  Seriously, would you want a life size chalk "rubbing" or picture of your son's gravestone framed and hanging on the wall?

I swear I don't know where my brother gets his strange ideas.

If he does the headstone rubbing you should seriously consider paying someone to kick his ass.  Just sayin'.

I seriously wonder how we came from the same parents.  He doesn't know when he is out of line, it's like he has some disconnect in his brain.  The things I could tell you.....

I have heard of people doing gravestone rubbings of old and peculiar headstones, but not for the reason you are saying. That is creepy.

Well, I know that after losing my brother, death became very very real for me. How did he handle your other brother's death? I am just wondering if this is related to that.

a common side side effect of vicodin is euphoria,although I doubt it would amp a person up,that is caused by something else.

yep that is a morbid thought/idea but to each his own.


My Dad is buried on top of my mother. My Lil sis thought that was crass/morbid at first.

He was just as upset as me but he has always been very strange and obsessed with death as well as shocking people. For instance he would love to be the "piss Christ" guy, he thinks that guy is a true artist. He wants to shock, not bring beauty to peoples lives. When he came back for Christmas he really pissed me off, he said that my brother Mark got off easy because he died and now he doesn't have to worry about bills or his mortgage any more.  I told him that that was totally screwed up thinking. I also told him to NEVER say that to our mom.    I was secretly thinking "you don't either" about paying his motgage or bills. Yup that is not only strange but totally inappropriate for a gift....I would be mortified.  Some of the things you said are pretty funny if they weren't so macabre.

When my mother was killed, I couldn't go to the funeral, because I was still in ICU.

My mother's oldest brother's wife...took pictures of the casket - flag draped and flower draped ( :whatever: ).....so that "Debbie would know that her mother was really dead".

She showed them to me when I got out of the hospital about a month later.

I didn't need a picture of a f'n coffin to know that my mother was dead.

Your mother doesn't need a "rubbing of a headstone" or any other damn thing to know her son is dead.

Sorry, BEG....but your brother wanting to do something like that, is just cruel and sadistic.

Yikes. Sounds like he has some issues. And what a horrible thing to say about your other brother. One thing about my brother's death is that it brought us so much closer together, but many times the opposite it true. Sounds like he has been having some issues though before that. I am sorry. We certainly don't get to pick our family. We just love them, and then cuss them out when they leave. ;) Good luck with him. Not sure what to tell you.

Sounds like he hasn't come to terms with your other brothers death. I am suspect of the hydrocodone also. It does not help moods at all.  You are correct in telling him NOT to do that. Good luck with him.  :heart:

His weirdness has nothing to do with the hydrocodone. He has always been weird.  He is taking the hydrocodone because he broke his tooth and the dentist didn't want to do anything until he has been on antibiotics for awhile. Although he LOVES hydrocodone.

A coworker lost her 23 year old son to a hydrocodone addiction.  Be sure he is using it for genuine purposes...when you said he "loves" hydrocodone, a red flag went up.

I guess it depends.  People take comfort in being able to go and visit the grave but if someone is clear across the country and they were very close, maybe?

I certainly would not give a "gift" like that without knowing that it would be of some comfort to the person recieving it.

He is using it for a legit reason now but he has used my dad's before. My dad never took it (he had it after his knee replacement surgery) and my brother found it while he was cleaning out the bathroom. He said he used it for his back but who knows. He has also gotten it for back pain from his GP before. You would think he would be very careful about taking it as our brother died from a methadone overdose almost two years ago.

I called my mom, she would not want a "gift" like that. In fact, it upset her. She sometimes gets really upset at how odd my brother is which was part of the reason she got upset when I called her.

Sounds like it's mostly the drugs talking BEG, but yes, it's morbid as all get out.  It also sounds like he may be mixing his prescription drugs with recreational pharmaceuticals.
