Please forgive!
« on: June 16, 2010, 09:54:38 AM »
I'm a spotty poster but read as much here as I can so forgive me if this topic has been discussed (and if I've put it in the wrong spot!)

A co-worker was telling me yesterday that he had read of a plan for Obama to dump Biden as VP in 2012 and ask Hillary to be on the ticket.  Is this credible?  Obama would possibly retain the Presidency with Hil as VP and she'd be the perfect candidate for 2016 IMO.

Thoughts? Links?

New topic here.

Haven't heard anything.

Obama's ONLY hope of having the left endorse his second term run is if a solid conservative gets nominated by the GOP/no RINOs manifest during the primaries.

Otherwise it may not only be Obama but also Biden looking for a new running mate...if you catch my drift.

So you believe that the "left" have the power over the vote, that the "solid conservative" has no chance of winning?

I'm concerned that this administration is continuing to enslave the ignorant to the socialist way of life, that the government teet is looking more and more desirable to the masses but at the rate our debt is climbing perhaps it's a bit TOO soon to becoming a reality.  The money is gonna run out before the plan is complete.  In your scenario this country would have to move toward the middle and we see where that has gotten us.

Hillary would be the perfect candidate to balance O and bring the dem-lite and possibly Indies back into the democratic fold.

I've seen some talk on blogs about Gates retiring before 2012 or near there, and Biden being named SecDef, with Hillary taking the VP spot.

No, no, good lady.

What I mean is: the left is pretty PO'ed with Obama right now. His failures are legion for not being left enough for their tastes. Even on healthcare they call him a corporatist sellout (wow!). This oil spill is quickly dividing them even further between keeping the faith and cleaning the beaches.

The left is so depserate to have a leftist in office that will actually obey them that Obama may--MAY--be challenged in the primary. it would be death for Obama to have a challenge. Independents would desert him if his own party challenged him.

The only way Obama's party won't challenge him is if the GOP pulls its head out and nominates a solid conservative. That conservative will be seen as such a threat the left will abandon challenging Obama for the sake of defeating a common threat.

If a RINO is running strong the left will hope that RINO will prevail which A) takes the heat off of them and B) causes the RW to waste valuable ammo shooting each other.

A solid conservative CAN win IF the republicans can wisely govern from 2011 forward once they get the House back. Defund ObamaCare. Defund the EPAs usurpation of congressional purviews, follow Arizona's lead on immigration policy and bust unions and the GOP will ride higher than it is today. The GOPs--and deomcrats--problem in the past is they have been playing against each other between the 40 yard line markers. Left, right and indies are both tired of this game. Even the indies don't like this lukewarm crap we've been fed for the last decade, they want a defined choice between hot or cold. The indies saw what the left has to offer and they blanched at the spectacle. Now the GOP has to be willing to step up and undo what has been done and enact policies that will solidify the desires of the electorate.

IOW: we are in absolute accord on the substance...

...I just haz bunneh stylez

If the GOP governs stupidly and appeasing its unappeasable critics then the GOP base will, as it has done since 2006, stay home...again. Don't believe me?

Imagine a John McCain-Lindsey Graham ticket.

As for Hillary: Yes, she would be the perfect re-balancing of the ticket...

...BUT...

...if Obama dumps Biden for Hillary then he admits he needs an adult to pick up his failings. I don't see Obama ever having the presence of mind to admit that much weakness and I can't see Hillary smelling that much blood in the water and not going for the jugular.

It'd be a brilliant move... Then the left can vote for the VP like (many of the) GOP did in '08.

Nailed that one ya did!  So do you think if O continues his slide within his party that HC may challenge him next term?  That thought makes me nervous.  It's way too soon to speculate about the second term, trying to keep my eye on the prize in 2012.

As to your comment about a McCain/Graham ticket  :drink:

It depends how Hillary sees herself.

She's all but showing up on milk cartons these days. Is she distancing herself from an increasing discordant administration to preserve her street cred...

--OR--

...has she been effectively marginalized and neutralized by a Chicago pol fearing a challenge in 2012?

I honestly don't know but hope for the latter.

Hillary is the one true threat to the GOP. Many dems and indies may want to look at her as a "do over" for their 2008 votes and the PUMA contingent is still pretty strong. Even on her failed healthcare reform effort in 93-94 she showed far more leadership than L'il 'O did for the 10 months of his fight. Now with HCR passed she can say she wants to see it done right. It would be a hard message to fight in the ears of the indies.

Many opportunities lie before us...both threats and boons.

Pray with your fingers crossed.

WHO will be it be?????  That's the 64k question!  I'm worried that it's already 2010 and O and his Chicago machine have already gone into 2012 campaign mode which is something they actually have experience doing! I love Sarah Palin and she is the ONLY reason I pulled that lever for McCain in '08 but I'm afraid she will be almost literally crucified by the left and all their media minions if she runs for prez. in '12. It will be brutal and entirely made-up -- campaign death by TMZ!

Who's out there? Pawlenty? Romney?  A handful of senators and reps?  We've gotta have a homerun hitter -- no more McCains or Doles!!!

I love love love Palin but hope she doesn't run.  I see nothing but a further rend in the fabric of Repubs if she does.  And I'm a believer in the 2 party system when it gets to the wire.

NO RHINOS!

I voted Romney in our primaries, the first in the south and that was tough even.  My choice for Pres in 2012 blew it but I wouldn't be aghast at Pawlenty, Paul Ryan....

Exactly my point!  There needs to be someone running against O that doesn't elicit this type of reaction.

He looked Presidential  :uhsure:

I was less conservative and uninformed ok? Hell I thought Bush was good, first term anyway.  I met Thompson (he was GREAT but totally not going to play for keeps), volunteered for Huck (he was my first choice) even thought Ron Paul was better than McCain.  There it is, I learned my lesson big time.

I have since begun to really educate myself.

So what do YOU think about Palin running in 2012?

Presidentially she's an awesome choice but as far as the media goes she'll never get off the ground.

Is it fair?

No.

But it is fact.

We have a strong field:

Paul Ryan
Mitch Daniels
Tim Pawlenty

God/Buddha/Allah forbid L'il 'O gets re-elected Chris Cristie would be awesome in 2016 if he wins re-election after facing down the unions and legislator in a blue state.

Expect to see a Rick Perry type high on the tides going in to the primaries.

Hi,

You raise a good question.  I suspect Hillary is going to make her move shortly to be the 2012 nominee because BO is very unlikely to get re-elected.  After the mid term election expect what remaining democrats to start bailing big time.

It was very telling last week when Carville basically told democrats BO was incompetent.  He is a Clinton man and to me that was the first step toward Hillary moving to the top of the 2012 ticket.

He's certainly doing his best to serve his people and state.  I've always liked Jindal and think the best candidate to run this country should have also governed a state before getting the nomination.  Another reason I voted Romney in the primaries.

Please pull Palenty off this list. He's a huge global warming lib... Only becasme "conservative" when it became popular (post election). He's the one who has forced down the E-20 requirements in DC with known falsified data. He's grown gov't quite a bit. He doesn't support drilling and is huge on alternative energy. He has rarely stood up to the libs unless it suited to get him attention.

NICE guy. I'd drink beer with him any day. But conservative he is not.

As I might have said either somewhere in this thread or in another, I had hoped that Mitch Daniels would be the standard-bearer for the Republicans in 2012.  But, Daniels said something about ignoring social issues and concentrating instead on economic issues.  That pretty much ended it for him.

Sarah Palin has certainly been going around the country giving whomever as much help as she can, and it's paying huge dividends.  Name one candidate that she has backed, that has lost.  Can't do it.  Conversely, name one candidate that Obama has helped, that has won.  Can't do that, either.

I've had the office moonbat, who is retiring, tell me that he feels confident about winning a $100 bet I have with him because the Republicans have no front-runner yet.  I ask him who the Democratic front-runner was each time the Dems have won the Presidency since 1990.  He wasn't able to give me the name of the first one until I prompted him (Paul Tsongas).  He was able to give me the name of the presumptive nominee in '08--Hillary Clinton.  So, I asked him, did either one win the nomination?  Obviously they didn't.  Hell, very few people knew who Bill Clinton was in January of 1992.  So, I said to him that the Republican nominee is very probably someone who we haven't even counted on yet.  But, whoever it is, they're going to walk all over the Obamessiah in 2012.  Why?  Well, for starters, the Bush tax cuts are due to expire soon, along with a lot of the tax laws allowing small businesses to file as individuals.  All of a sudden, there's going to be a lot more money taken out of people's paychecks, at a time when small businesses are going to have to trim workers--or even close their doors.  Unemployment is going to go up--and let's remember that the Obamessiah told the American people that they had to pass the TARP rescue bill to the tune of damn near $800 billion or unemployment was going to go over 8%.  After the tax cuts expire, expect it to go north of 10.5% reported, which means that the actual number will be close to 19%.

Now, there's a certain Secretary of State who has a husband, who knows all of this is going to happen.  The Obamessiah ruined said husband's dreams of being in the White House for sixtreen years.  The surest way of getting revenge against the Obamessiah for dashing those dreams is to have his wife, the present Secretary of State, declare that she is going to run for the Democrat Party nomination for President--in 2012.

But, the Obamessiah isn't stupid.  He knows that the husband has it out for him.  Now, Moe Lane over at RedState lays it out in much better than I can, so I'll just give the link.  But before I do, I'll say this:  Obama changed the rules on how the nominee will be chosen.

http://www.redstate.com/moe_lane/2010/06/17/quietly-revising-the-2012-democratic-nomination-process/

But, it's probably not going to help Hopey McChangeSnorter in 2012.  It's getting to the point that any one of us would be able to run a credible campaign against him.
