The one part you don't see? The 7.0% that your employer pays the government that could be going to you.  FICA and medicare tax on your check is doubled.

Those of us who are self-employed get to pay both sides...yes it is my choice to be self-employed.

Collecting unemployment is never an option....still my choice by being self-employed.

Don't bitch to me about paying taxes, either.... my daughter's BIL was on unemployment all last year....he got $6200 BACK from the IRS!  :censored:...which is almost how much I owed.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far I've finished two bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already." – Dave Barry

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

Wait until XemaSab sees how much her utilities rise if Cap and Trade goes through, she'll see a double or triple increase.

No kidding.  I have shoveled out 5 grand in 4 months for my Suburban ($4500 for a "new" 6.5 diesel engine and $500 plus for catastrophic brake failure) and another $300 to replace rotted flooring in my bathroom.  I am by no means rich but I do have a pretty good idea how to handle my money and take care of my things so I don't have to do dumb shit like that every month.

I do make a decent living (no college degree, just tons of military tech schools and 22 years experience) and these little mouth breathers would have all of it stolen from me because they don't have a clue how to manage their lives and live within their means?

Yeah, I agree, **** YOU!

I almost wish I was a no load, emotionally stunted liberal that lived beyond my means and expected everyone else to pay for it.  If I were, I would be driving a new 2011 Super Duty with all the fixins and demanding someone else pay for it.  It's not fair, you see, for me to have to keep a 14 year old truck on the road while so many fat-cat Wall Street bankers are getting bailouts.   :whatever:

14 years old!  Is that all?  I'll go halves with you on the 2011 Super Duty, BTW....

My 1988 F-250 blew a head gasket back in the winter, so I'm looking at doing a "lick and promise" engine rebuild on the 7.3 diesel (basically gaskets, bearings, rings, and head rebuild) sometime this summer.  I feel it needs it, it's been totally great for 220,000 miles, and I'll need it to carry firewood this winter....

Not just utilities, but everything else.  I have no idea what DUmmies think gets goods to the stores, because they advocate $10.00/gal. gas.  This tell me they haven't a clue that that $10.00/gal. gas also harvests their organic tofu, soybeans, and alfalfa sprouts, processes them, and moves them to market....   :hammer:

DAmned DUmmies can't see the forest for the trees, but that doesn't matter; they like trees....   :mental:

Keep raising taxes on the rich DUmmies.  Keep it up and you will most definitely see your prices for goods and services increase.  Yeah, O'bama tells you he is going to raise taxes on the rich only but if you think that shit doesn't trickle down you are seriously deluded.

Those of us that understand basic economics and business realize that when you pay a retailer $50.00 for a given product it means that it all goes to...

1)Paying for the retailer to have a staff,utilities,taxes collected,transportation,paying the supplier...etc

2)Paying the supplier for staff, acquisition and inventory of the raw materials, the costs of tooling for production, warrenty loss, liability insurance...etc

3)A profit over and above all that to make it a worthwile return on investment of capital and time for both.

To a DUmmy they just think that $50.00 landed in someones pocket to be hoarded away thus cheating them out of their wants in life.

Yes, all the moonbats think that if gas is $10/gallon, everybody will take to their bicycles, and so the air will be fresh and pure, we will all be in excellent health, and skittle-shitting unicorns can be seen for miles.

I'm in food distribution, and when gas hits a certain mark, we have a line item on each invoice, "fuel surcharge."  This gets passed from the food seller to the end buyer immediately.  To rich and dirt-poor alike, DUmmies.  Affects even pot and Cheetos.

I used to be in "raw food manufacturing" (aka I ran a dairy farm).

WE had to pay a daily haul charge (usually $3.00) + about $.75/cwt freight to have our product hauled TO MARKET!

That $.75/cwt usually translated into $60-70 every other day.  Don't sound like a lot, but when you only get paid $12.50/cwt, it adds up quick.

Out of what's left, we had to pay electric, mortgage, maintenance, fuel, feed, labor, etc.

If we were lucky, we had enough left for a Big Mac and fries for the kids every month or so....

This was all before fuel hit $5.00/gal back in 2008.  I work for the USPS now....   :-)

Oh, we could go halfsies on the Super Duty if you don't mind "The Empress" driving it every day.   :-)  The truck it would replace would be the 02 Avalanche she drives now.

Have you seen the new Super Duty?  I've been reading about it for probably 6 months or more in Diesel Power and finally got to test drive one about two weeks ago.

It was unbelievable!   :o  The new 6.7 engine is a monster!  And Ford has put one hell of a transmission behind it!  I had never seen, nor heard of, an out of the box, straight from the showroom, just off the damn car carrier heavy duty (stock) diesel truck burn the tires from a dead standstill.  But I have now...

As far as I'm concerned, it's Ford or nothing from now on.

I do love my Suburban, though.  Lots of children to tote around, decent fuel mileage, never lost power or punch even with the #7 cylinder cracked and leaking antifreeze.  I'll give GM this much, that 6.5 is a good damn setup.  Too bad they let Obama take them over, they could have kept a loyal customer that wants to replace some of his aging fleet.

I've seen some of the early numbers for the 6.7 Ford Power Stroke:  codename "Scorpion", this thing puts out 390 hp and 735 lb-ft of torque!  This thing is MADE to TOW!

Alas, I'll have to keep my '88 7.3 diesel a little longer.  The Hypermax kit turned a good engine into a great one, it tows and hauls everything I put behind it or on it with no complaints....

Let me tell you firsthand that reading the numbers (which I also did) is nothing compared to how it feels when you lay into the throttle.   :o

Just one minor correction:  The new 6.7 is not a Powerstroke.  Ford took their engine manufacturing away from International and brought it back in house.  HUGE difference in sound and power output.  The design guys really nailed it with this engine and transmission setup and the single shaft turbo guarantees you have no lag whatsoever.

Do you read Diesel Power Magazine?

Do you read Diesel Power Magazine?

I've read a few issues, not many, but I subscribe to 4-Wheel & Off-Road and to Offroad mags.  They sometimes do articles on diesels, but I remember the one in Diesel Power about how someone built a 5.9 Cummins to put out over 1,000 hp.  Those are Super Stock pulling tractor numbers!

According to what I've read and this link, Ford still calls their diesel engine Power Stroke....

Ford kept the Power Stroke moniker when they broke from International.  International engines are now known as MaxxForce....

If y'all would like, I can split this off for a truck discussion, in another forum, cause it's kinda off-topic here......
