I know several people who are democrats (a few are union members) who are racists and like the healthcare "reform". One such person is a person I went to high school with. She uses the "N" word frequently, her ex-step daughter dates black men so she calls her a "white trash whore" because of it. She is a democrat, thinks the heathcare "reform" is a good thing and her dad is a Union guy. I'm sure she got her views from her parents (who happen to be democrats). What is your point?
My point is in response to Pat Sajaks article contending that if you oppose obamacare you are sometimes labeled a racist when in fact many people object to health reform based on its merits alone and it has nothing to do with race.
I'm saying that sometimes people object to it (healthcare, or any other issue) BECAUSE of race--not all people, but some. And that healthcare aside, many people are offended, like pat sajak said in his article, that a black man is president and a woman is speaker of the house. So even though many people that oppose healthcare arent racists, some are. And that sometimes it may have nothing to do with healthcare at all. If Obama was trying to switch movie night to Thursday from Friday, many would oppose it not because they have a conflict with movie night being on Thursday, but because a black man is telling them what to do...
If those same people were told by the late reagan to move movie night to Thursday, they would ask whether or not they should bring popcorn...
So my conclusion is simply that
race does play a factor for some people...regardless of the issue...
