Why aren't those Primitives taking the unfortunates into their homes?  I saw not one response in that thread talking about what they were doing to solve the issue.  I did see a reference to government aid, but no Primitives acting 'progressively'.

That gets me too.

Like down in southern California, here we have the C-Pig primitive, the "CaliforniaPeggy" primitive, and the don't-go-there primitive, the "BeHereNow" primitive, living in Streisandian opulence and luxury.....and spacious living space.

The don't-go-there primitive even has a swimming pool.

Either could probably take in at least 20 homeless primitives with no crowding.

But no; sharing is for "other people" to do, not them.

Ha- I didn't give much info because it is hard to remember. I think he used to hang out on the corner of Preston and 635. I wish I had a pic of that little dog in the space suit.

I do!  I do! I do!  I used to work off of Montfort and LBJ, and saw him back then.  Since Dallas has a law about no panhandlers, you won't see them there now.  They moved to Webb Chapel and 635.  Farmers Branch doesn't mind panhandlers.

A bizillion years ago when I was in college, I used to pass a guy off of NW highway and 635, on the west side, and he always had a sign that said "Will work for food."  There is a McDonalds right across the street, so one day I decided to get him a couple of double cheeseburgers, and he THREW them at me.  Said with money he would buy his own damn food.

The Dawson family, in north Wichita, have a vacant basement apartment, and an upstairs bedroom vacated by their fleeing daughter, but so far have neglected to offer comfortable shelter to a few winos.

If even half the democrats with excessive, unused living space were to share with their fellow man, the problem of homeless winos would be solved. In Belle Meade, an opulent enclave of old money in Nashville, Algore and Tipper rattle around inside a 10,000 sq. ft. mansion, while the underpasses in downtown are crowded with freezing winos. Over in North Carolina, the abandoned moonbat Elizabeth Edwards and her abandoned children wander through over 20,000 sq. ft. of elegant, warm, unused space, while Tarheel winos scramble for discarded appliance cartons to sleep in. I think bobbolink is right, they just don't care about the homeless.

But Frank, one Miss EFerrari scolds us that we were to have learned sharing by age 3 or 4.

I saw some young lady bum on the street.  She looked perfectly able-bodied for normal life and work.  You know, not all wild-eyed and crazy and filthy.  She could work in a hip dress shop.  But no.  She sat on the ground and ate a donut, offering from time to time a bite of the donut to her dog.  Sign said she wanted food, so I bought a bag of dog food and put it down there without a word.  Donuts for a dog!  Why does she have to drag a poor dog into her DUmmie lifestyle?

Now that was a lovely gesture! Who says we fascists don't care about the less fortunate?

And we can't blame poor stupid Beth for the plight of the homeless winos. With her mother, her crazy brother, and her two big dogs, she's sharing about 30 square feet of living space. That's admirable.

Are you noticing a large rise in the homeless population in YOUR city?

I was out today and was stopped THREE times.

One was near the gas station. A homeless person came over to me and asked me if I could go with him to the KFC near the gas station to help him get something to eat. (yes, asked for the meal - not cash)

Another was a homeless lady at the light.

The third was a volunteer outside the grocery store with a table set up for donations.

This is becoming more and more common here. Three years ago it was incredibly rare to be approached by a homeless person. These days it is almost a daily occurrence.
People NEED JOBS. When the hell is congress going to actually address this? Do they realize they are risking a republican take over this November? In which case all bets are off for any job creation efforts.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the homeless population where you live?

Am I seeing things or did a Primitive just say things were better under Bush? :fuelfire:

Small world isn't it Iassa?  I worked on Preston in that midrise buidling across the street from TJMaxx back in the late 90s.  I always felt sorry for that little dog in his super shiny space suit. It looked so constricting...

I worked on the southside of 635, off the service road by Montfort.  And I so totally remember that dude.  My boyfriend worked at the Exxon, on Preston and Beltline, when it had a shop.  I asked him about that dude, and he remembered him too.

I tried 'homeless space dog' without quotes and went through like 17 pages of results...
