10. EVIL is the best word to describe conservatives.   
   I often wonder what happened to them as children or through life to be so hateful and greedy. It's like they are void of all compassion or empathy for anyone. They all worship corporations and power, and always side with the rich and powerful over the weak and vulnerable. They all claim to be 'Christians', but they are all fakes. The person they 'say' they worship would condemn every one of their evil actions. And if Jesus was pulled off the cross just before he died 'Christian' conservatives would stand around and watch him die without helping because they would condemn him as a deadbeat and a loser for not having health insurance. The best word to describe them is EVIL.

If they just raise the price of the "burger" to make up for something else, eventually the price of the burger will be higher than many people are willing to pay (necessitating a drop in the burger price).

In general, there are limits to how much of an excise tax or a regulatory expense can actually be passed onto customers. The more elastic the demand (i.e. the more customers are willing to just not buy the product at higher prices), the less of the tax/regulatory cost they can pass on to customers. The less elastic the demand (i.e. if customers are willing to buy the product at any price), the more of the tax/cost they can pass on.

In this case, the much of the regulatory cost of the bill primarily affects big banks. (This is the point -- we need to tax "bigness" to reduce the incentive for banks to become so big.) So if big banks start charging for checking accounts, people will move to smaller banks -- necessitating a lowering of the cost of checking accounts even at the big banks. In other words, demand for big-bank checking accounts is highly elastic.

Dear DUmmie, Would you please come explain to us knuckledraggers just how a business runs without passing the cost/taxes along to the consumer?  Please??

they should be brought into this country by our government, assured of their potency and purity by our government and then handed out for free, to those over 18 who want them. All this would cost a tiny fraction of what we're paying to try and stop the stuff!

OVERNIGHT - the killing would stop at the borders, the cops would find other things to do with their time (including dipping their fingers in the trade), domestic gangs would stop fighting over turf here, and settle into delerium by using all of their supply that they'd be stuck with, AND.... we'd be one giant step towards eliminating the "dumb" gene from our pool.

Mark Wahlberg is considering taking legal action against bosses of a public aquarium in San Diego, California, after a "giant" captive octopus attacked his son.

The Hollywood actor and his model wife Rhea Durham were on family holiday with their four kids, but the trip took a frightening turn at the Sea Life Aquarium in Carlsbad - when an aggressive sea creature latched on to Durham, their four-year old son Michael, and the family's tour guide. Wahlberg recalled the incident during an interview on David Letterman's late night TV show on Thursday.

He said: "We have a tour guide so she's like, 'You have a special treat today, we'll be able to take you behind the tank and you'll be able to see the octopus...' So this women pulls out this gigantic octopus, the thing latches on to my son's arm. It's got my wife, (it's) wrapped completely around the lady, and another guy's just standing there. They can't get this octopus off. My son is freaking out but no sound is coming out of his mouth. So finally we rip the thing off of him. He's got all these suction marks that look like about 30 little hickeys (bruises). The lady can't get out, she's yelling for help... He (the aquarium manager) said it's never been that aggressive."

However, as the audience laughed at Wahlberg's dramatic storytelling, Letterman urged the actor to take legal action - and the star admitted he may soon be filing suit.

He said: "We haven't filed yet but if you could recommend a good lawyer... Once the woman who handles the octopus starts freaking out I knew there was a problem. She couldn't even get away from the thing. She had to have help come running in. Once I got my kid out of there I said, 'Let's go!' I left the lady there. That's her problem."
