You lived a good life, Mrs Biden, and you had reason to be proud of your family and their accomplishments....God bless.

It's always a sad time for anyone to lose a parent.

Whether it is news worthy or not....making disparaging remarks, tying it to health care or any other political issue is beneath any of us.

Kind of comes under the category of if you can't say something nice...then just don't say anything.

Sorry, guys, if I've made you mad....but each one of you is a much better person than you showed yourself to be in this thread.

Ain't mad at all, deb. You've got your opinion, I've got mine. However, I completely disagree with your comment about "if you can't say something nice, then just don't say anything." To that end, I'm going to state my case regardless of the warm 'n fuzzies that seem to permeate the atmosphere at the moment.

The issue isn't whether Plugs' mother was a good one or not. It isn't about her at all. And it isn't about the Biden family, either (apart from the fact that any time that idiot runs his mouth I become disgusted).

In all honesty, I have absolutely no opinion about Mrs Biden, other than the fact she bred a complete idiot as a senator and an even bigger moron as a Veep. That probably isn't her fault, though. God only knows she probably contracted some kind of disease while she was pregnant with him and a couple of key genes went wacko, creating the dumbass that Plugs is.

Nope, it ain't about her at all. It really has to do with whether or not the issue is newsworthy. As Thor iterated above in Reply #21, it isn't newsworthy. Period. Her son is VP. She's 92. She dies. Instead of reading a blurb on page 16 of the WSJ, I've got to hear the local news, then the national news, over and over and over again talk about the VP's mother as if she were 23 and was struck down in a freak accident.

Like I said -- gimme a freakin' break.

It was on here that I heard she had died....and have not heard it mentioned on the news at all. I was unaware until your posts that it had been all over the news the last two days....

So, my opinion is a bit different than you and Thor have.

It isn't "warm n'fuzzies" that I feel about his mother. She lived a long and I would assume productive life, from what I had read about her....she apparently was quite the feisty little woman. Her children and grandchildren all seem to have lead productive lives.....not a given these days.

Granted we wouldn't know a thing about her or her death unless we lived where she did and read her obit in the paper, if her son wasn't who he is....nor would we care unless we knew her.

It's not her fault that she is getting all this publicity in her death....and I just think some of the remarks made sounded a lot like those made in the Dump...that were equally unnecessary....

Let me be clear, deb.

By "warm 'n fuzzies" I mean the apparent feeling that you have, and that cottondress has, that with Mrs Biden's death, it's a national event AND that it's worthy of my sympathy.

It's not. While I have no antipathy toward Mrs Biden, people die. It's a fact. She had a nice long life. That's great.

Can I have the remote back now?

Can I have the remote back now? Darlin'...I wouldn't think of taking away your remote....I'm well trained. To go to a different room and watch TV and have my own remote.....

I am not a fan of Joe or his mother but by God it is not their fault that the media is hell bent on making this a National news story. Get a life people.

My mom died at the age of 93. That was 8 years ago and I still miss her. I am sure that her family misses her also.

RIP

and if CC existed 8 years ago, you have have my sympathies, Lacarnut. While I don't know you, personally, you ARE a member of the Cave. I've enjoyed your posts and wisdom. Therein lies the difference. Biden has not touched my life in any way, shape or form. The fact that his mother died is sorrowful for him and their family. I understand that. Does it affect me, personally?? No. Her death only affects the Biden family and their friends. I'm not one of them. I'm just apathetic about her death, period. Not newsworthy.

Ya know, when my mother died, I was prepared for it, mostly. She had cancer and had suffered through chemo for almost two years. My grandmother got old, she died. It wasn't like I didn't know it was coming. My dad had Parkinsons for many years, well over a decade. Again, I was mentally prepared. Did I grieve?? Of course I did. Hell, I still miss my family. However, none of their deaths were more newsworthy than the local paper. Were they good people?? I'd like to think so. It kind of sucks being an "orphan" with no other family, except my progeny. However, life goes on.
