Joe Biden's mother dies
« on: January 08, 2010, 04:51:22 PM »

WASHINGTON – Vice President Joe Biden's 92-year-old mother has died after becoming seriously ill in recent days.

In a statement, the vice president says Jean Finnegan Biden died Friday in Wilmington, Del., surrounded by her family and loved ones. Biden says his mother was the center of the family, teaching them that faith will guide them through tough times.

Biden left Washington Thursday to be with his mother in his Wilmington, his hometown. The vice president's office says details on services will be announced in the coming days.

That's always so sad. Having my mom go was the worst.
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

Sorry, my sympathy meter isn't working. She was 92 years old. People die, especially at 60+. IMO, she has probably lived a long and full life. It was her time.

Perhaps I'm a cold, heartless bastard, I dunno.

One of the very few good things about this administration...this lady got to see her son be VP before she died.  Prayers for all that loved her.

My grandmother was 99 when she died, but I still miss her every day.  There is no such age as "old enough no one cares."

RIP, Mrs Biden.

That said, I'll bet she received the best care possible. Care that will be denied me under Obama's health plan.

She does not look happy in that photo. Reminds me of Kenny's grandmother that recently passed. She never smiled in pictures, not even her wedding photo. :-)

I miss her.

And, boy howdy, Ms. Biden looked like a pip.  Rest in Peace.

Losing a mother is hard on anyone, no matter the age. My father still hasn't fully recovered from my grandmother's death and that was about 3 years ago.

God bless to Joe and the family.

I hate to bring politics into this but Obama doesn't give a damn about anyone about himself. What kind of a scumbag lets his brother live in third world poverty overseas.
And his crying over his "typical white grandmother" felt like crocodile tears to me.

Agreed. This particular story is NOT newsworthy. I walked by the TV this afternoon and Plugs was on the tube babbling some stupid shit about his mother while she looked on adoringly (this was clearly before she croaked). Yadda yadda yadda. Gimme a freakin' break.  :bird:

I guess that MY point is that were this the average, hard working American's mom, it wouldn't have EVER made the National News. When my mom, grandma and dad passed, there was little more than an obituary in the local paper. Just because it's the VP's mom, it's worthy of passing that info to the Nation?? Not IMO. I could go on. IMO, if I die to morrow, then so be it. A few will miss me. I don't expect it to be National news. Hell, there might be a few here that will celebrate my passing. It seems to me that too much importance is being placed on the wrong things. Celebrities, Political figures, and people that really have little effect on others' lives.

You lived a good life, Mrs Biden, and you had reason to be proud of your family and their accomplishments....God bless.

It's always a sad time for anyone to lose a parent.

Whether it is news worthy or not....making disparaging remarks, tying it to health care or any other political issue is beneath any of us.

Kind of comes under the category of if you can't say something nice...then just don't say anything.

Sorry, guys, if I've made you mad....but each one of you is a much better person than you showed yourself to be in this thread.

Given all that seems to attend celebrity these days, I happy to be relatively annoymorous. And anonymous, too. However appropriate or otherwise the MSM's coverage, the Bidens are still human beings are are (or at least should be) experiencing some measure of grief and loss.
