Cold this morning...wind chills below zero, which resulted in a 2 hour delay for schools  :whatever:.

Mr Flame starts a new schedule today, which I really dislike...back to shift work, and he's doing the 1-9:30 thing this quarter.   Part of the perk of moving from sunny Florida to the deepfreeze was that he was supposed to work "regular hours", since he was in an office.   Stupid inmates whining about crap, and stupid powers that be that listen to them.

Anyway, it's going to take some getting used to, but I guess better this quarter than next, when I'll have 2 boys playing baseball again.

I was supposed to go back to work today after a week and a half off for Christmas and New Years, but I have to report for jury duty.  :whatever:  I warned people before I left that I might get called up, but I'm still feeling somewhat guilty.

Frickety Frack.  First Full work week.  I have a feeling it is gonna be LONG.  Supposed to hit record lows later in the week, first time in 15 years, the temp will be 10 or something like that.  Fortunately, no wet weather, just cold.

Yup, she is a cold day, wouldn't be so bad if it quit blowing out there so strong.

We, or most of us made it alive into the new year, lost 2 in November that was expected in the long run.

January and a new calender and appointments to fill in, birthdays and anniversary's to make note of.

I have got to find a good electrician, the new thermostat Hubby put in is as bad as the last, time to get an expert out here.

Then our car doors have taken to freezing open or shut on their own. What the heck do they make car doors out of these days, I had this problem with a 1964 Sting Ray but first time the Jeep went sour.

This is the time for dreaming, have to request tons of catalogues for spring planting, getting a reservation for renting  a small rototiller come March.

Dogs and cats need new years physical --big bucks.

First of a new year, have to girdle my loins for what may come to pass this year for good or bad.

Up to a whopping 19 with snow flurries.  :brrr:

The heat guy is back here for the 4th or 5th time... :maddernhell:...no hot water in the house, and no heat on the first floor since Saturday. They were too busy to get out here last week to put in a part that was ordered.  ::)

I don't understand how coming out and cleaning the systems, making sure there were no natural gas leaks (a concern after a house was totally destroyed after a natural gas leak) and finding out why the floors didn't have the hot water going through them, has resulted in all the problems since.

We had heat, we had hot water. We just didn't have warm floors.

Since the first time he was here....we have had intermittent hot water, intermittent warm floors, and now the last 2 days - no heat on the first floor.

He has been here a MINIMUM 6 hours each time he's been here.

We are not happy campers.....

Repairman just left.

He replaced the thermostat in the boiler, so we are supposed to have hot water in a bit. That should also heat the floors.

He swears the furnace is also hot water heated....I don't think it is. We will see.

M didn't pay him...which is a good thing. I had cancelled the $760 check I wrote the first time he was here, the next morning after my SECOND cold shower!!

I am not paying him for all the hours he's been out here screwing around with it!  :censored:  They advertise as specializing in boiler systems...I asked the guy if he knew what he was doing before he even started and he said "oh yes...if I have any problems, I have someone I can call". HA!! The 3rd time he was here, he brought someone with him....the one time I walked out into the garage...the other guy is on the phone explaining the system!!

I would call someone else, but there are few companies that advertise as boiler repair....and if I have to pay this company then by God, THEY are going to fix it!!  :banghead:

I hope.... :bawl:

Thank goodness I don't have everything tied into the boiler, I guess.  Yeah, it sucked not having hot water after 2-3 days during the ice storm, but at least my oil bill won't be devestating.

I know this won't mean much to some of ya'll but we had snow this morning !!!

I am a deep south girl living more north now and I'm tickled to death.  The middle of the week promises more with very cold temperatures.

I can't help it, I'm excited.

I just can't wait to see what our gas bill is going to be like.... :censored:

What I don't understand is how it's gotten so screwed up other than the guy didn't know what he was doing.

+1 deg. at 0500 this morning while walking the mutts.

My bathroom sink's hot water line froze up, but no busted lines. The Manabloc system is good for that. I have a small space heater inside my vanity that blows hot air right on the UNINSULATED WALL that resulted from a shithead contractor who didn't know enough to insulate knockouts.

Other than that, life is good.

Deb, with M being a mechanical engineer, I'm surprised that he can't tackle this himself.

You would think.

I think part of it is...too many years of having employees to do this stuff. The other part....I think he's more of a manufacturing type engineer. Give him some tooling or dye work or big manufacture machine that isn't working properly and he will redo it.

Give him a garage door opener and he'll call a repairman.... ::)

Sunny and cold here.  Snow scheduled for Thursday... no details at all, but they're predicting snow "showers".  That could be anything from 1/4 of an inch up to single-digit snowfall.  Quick, everybody panic.

Unseasonably warm here. Highs in the 50's lows in the 40's.
