Unless one has the misfortune to have to venture out into the windchill in order to arive at the job site in time for the boss to not replace you.

I don't think the boss would appreciate my forethought, if I showed up to work in my Snuggie and bedroom slippers.

Yup, it's down into single digits here, and the wind blowing. Of course, this is the only day this week I have to leave the house. Have a haircut appointment, so I have to dig the truck out of the snow.

But, things are looking positive for my return to work at IBM in the very near future. So I better get used to having to dig out every day.

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: will keep prayers going for you!

It's 34 with a chill of 25....but the sun's out. Not sure why our chill temp is so much lower, doesn't look like there's much wind.

Need to do some laundry and general picking up...but having a definite lack of motivation...as there'a a book, a blankie and a hot cup of apple tea/cider calling ....."come sit with us........"    :uhsure:

Seems we are having a "gathering" here on New Year's Day.....knew I shouldn't have had that second Skyy and tonic last night... :thatsright: It went from the 4 of us....to 14 in a heartbeat.  :lmao:

And heaters.  BTW--did I mention I filled my oil tank last Saturday?  Only cost $410.  That should get me through, oh, February.  Maybe.

Current wind chill...-10F.  At NOON.  At least I'm not up on Mount Washington.  WC up there is currently -65F.

I took the beagle out at oh dark thirty this morning and it was crisp but no wind.  When I headed off to Wally World to get a few things three hours later conditions had gone straight down hill, ended up chasing my cap in the parking lot.  Always an experience guaranteed to make you feel foolish!!

Just the other day it was what, 50??  I do so miss that Gorebal Warming. At this rate I will have to buy more pellets.

Windchill is overblown......

I transferred from San Diego to Minnesota. There was a day during my first winter up there that the windchill was -45°F. I went out in nothing but my Winter working Blues to have a smoke. I was directly in the wind. It didn't seem that bad. Of course, post retirement, I came to the conclusion that anything below Zero was just plain cold. (Actual O.A.T.)

Ugh.  Just got home from a 6 hour round trip drive to Morgantown. Dropped the daughter off. WINDY as heck, and sloppy roads.  Fun times.

Left the boys home, and happily, the house is still standing and not a mess!

Ok which one of you kids untied Grandpa again??

Hey Sparky, the thermometer is now reading 13.5  which means it has gone down 14 degrees since I walked the beagle this morning.  Something tells me she will be in and out for her evening piddle in record time. :whatever:

Got the wife a remote starter for Christmas, at least she should be warm an toasty tonight when she gets in the car.

Hmmmm...that was at 3, it's almost 8 now.  It was 10 as I was driving home up the Spaulding (right by where they had the rollover--WHEE!!!), it's now 5, with 25 mph winds, gusting to 35.  Every few minutes it sounds like a friggin freight train is rolling through my yard (front or back--pick one.)

That, boys and girls, is a wind chill of -19 degrees F.  Mt. Washington checks in at -19 with a 70 mph wind, for a wind chill of -66 F.

Needless to say, I stayed in tonight.

Going to get my haircut was brutal today.

It was pretty and sunny, but bitter cold and the wind was blowing pretty good.

First off, couldn't get any of my vehicle doors open, so i had to use the claw end of a hammer to pry one of the doors open.

After I let it warm up for a good forty minutes, went back out in the wind to scrape.

Had to drive along the lakeshore and cross over into Rouses Point, NY. As I said, it was sunny, but the snow was blowing in off the frozen lake, so it was like driving through a sunny blizzard, over huge drifts of snow across the road.

I noticed at the head of my island on the way back home a new sign that says "Low salt and sand use area". Basically, that means the plow scrapes the road down some, and you are on your own from there. Good luck not ending up in the lake.

That's what remote starters are for. I have one in my truck since it was always the one to sit outside in the MN winters. Always left the defroster on high  and the temp on high. Always worked like a charm.
