More than likely you nailed it the first time.

Construction workers who actually make money are only out of work when they want to be. They don't cook, they only eat goose when they shoot them, and would more than likely kick the bum off the porch. Under no circumstances would they let the lady of the house answer the door with some worthless, filthy individual, knockin' and lookin' for a hand-out!

Oh, yeah, my physical therapist compares me to footballers all the time dealing with my rehab. Most of my buds that were in construction for any length of time had muscles in their shit!

God I hate this country.
   
As those few of you who have ever read my posts know, I live in downtown San Jose, California. The demographics vary from the homeless that tend to live by the river to the affluent that live in the high rise condos with views of the valley but for the most part, it's pretty working class neighborhood.

If I had to take a guess, I would say that it's 2 bucks a pound ground chuck as opposed to 1.49 a pound hamburger meat. Not ground sirloin but still good food.

Oh no, it's expensive.  It's currently wholesaling for about $6-8/pound. You know, restaurant-ready and all.  I'm looking at 10 duckling halves in a case costing at wholesale $88. 

Hey Oceander, I think you made a great post up there about Habitat for Humanity.  Excellent points!  It's good advice for anyone between jobs.  Volunteer in something somehow related to your field/skills.  Networking is where it all happens.

I'm 5'7" and I would be starved to death long before I reached 138.
