most Field Grade and a few "ring knocker" Cpts sure seemed pretty full of themselves to this E-4. The braid on the cap seemed to carry the arogance, tho the RTOC's seemed pretty self satisfide as well.......DOCTORS I met were doctors first, but on the street, demanded full military protocall. Proportionally, fewer assholes in the Med. Services, and most of the aassholes were the "ladies". Maybe it is different today, but I doubt it.
Got you beat Sparky.
Years ago Mom and I were waiting to get through the gate to our ship yard when the driver of the car ahead of us seemed to have a problem. Back then Marines were at the gate and this one woman driving on the base with a sticker on her car for some reason was asked for her ID.
I swear that woman had to have been drunk as she had misplaced her ID card and got out of the car and jacked up the Marines who were about 20-21 years old and had side arms.
She began to shriek at the too Marines, " Do you know who I am, my husband is Chief of the Boat."
I kid you not, she was escorted kicking and screaming into the guard shack, Mom and I laughed a bit too hard as I was pregnant at the time and thank God for plastic seats--easy to clean.
Another time in Vallejo when the Nuke School was at Mare Island my Hubby was an instructor at the school. 4 nights a week he tutored his students at home. Neighbors saw the kids coming in and out, they were left to wonder why.
One day talking to the neighbor next door a woman comes over from the next street and is really rude to me, she tells me she cannot associate with me as her husband had just made Chief. About that time my hubby comes home an E9 and enters the house.
For some reason I got on MY high horse and told her I hoped her husband was not one of My husbands students.
Oh there are so few times in life when insulted that one can turn the tables big time on those that think they are better then you, not for what they have done but for the accomplishments of others.
