In a larger command, no doubt about it.  In smaller ones, not so much.  I mean, on the boats, under the right circumstances, most everyone at or below the Department Head level was on a first-name basis.  On the tender, some Chiefs and even PO1's would get their panties in a wad were you to intrude on their little fiefdoms or not adequately bow and genuflect before their self-erected altars.

Yeah, academy grads could be a PITA, but once they got knocked down a peg or two they became more or less human.

IMO, the BEST officers (in ANY branch) are the prior Enlisted. There may still be the divide, but they lead with some intelligence.

There's a guy in church who's retired Navy. Became an LDO (props to Sparky for posting the right acronym) after he made Chief, and I believe he retired as a Lieutenant Commander. Nicest guy you'd ever want to meet (franksolich notwithstanding).

His wife, on the other hand.....Jeezus, she wore the pants between the two of them. Can't stand the woman. She's one of those who loves to hear herself talk and doesn't realize that when she's doing it, everybody else is cringing with pain and embarassment.

Meh.  I knew a couple of LDO's who were good, and a couple that were as useful as a football bat.  Worst one ever was a Warrant on the tender.  Raging alcoholic and mean as a friggin snake.  Had one "prior-enlisted" officer who had been picked up out of prototype and sent to ROTC.  Total window-licker, who thought he knew something, which made him twice as dangerous.

And I'll have you know I was an ET, not an EM.  I only went over to the dark high-voltage side AFTER I got out, and found out I could get my testicles back.

most Field Grade and a few "ring knocker" Cpts sure seemed pretty full of themselves to this E-4. The braid on the cap seemed to carry the arogance, tho  the RTOC's seemed pretty self satisfide as well.......DOCTORS I met were doctors first, but on the street, demanded full military protocall.  Proportionally, fewer assholes in the Med. Services, and most of the aassholes were the "ladies".  Maybe it is different today, but I doubt it.

How many soldiers truly in need of a competent doctor to treat what was ailing them mentally were seen by this idiot?

And what kind of further damage was done to them between the ears because of his dislike of the WoT and his unhappiness at bening deployed?

There will be a ripple effect from this asshats action that aren't even being thought of yet IMHO.

Because of his actions...you've now got soldiers in harms way that aren't 100% focusing on the mission in front of them...they are now worrying about their family members back home and if they are gonna be the next ones that are shot up?

How many soldiers that are shot in Iraq and Afghanistan in say the next 30 days will be secondary casulties of this idiot?

You brought up exactly what I was thinking of, TX! Great points. Hopefully those treated by him, if fed negativity, will consider that now that he has been exposed for what he is.

FORT HOOD, Texas – Soldiers who witnessed the shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire, the base commander said Friday.

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone said officials had not yet confirmed that the suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday, which left 30 people wounded, including the gunman.

An imam from a mosque Hasan regularly attended said Hasan, a lifelong Muslim, was a committed soldier, gave no sign of extremist beliefs and regularly wore his uniform at prayers.

As details continue to emerge about the carnage at Ft. Hood, it appears a pregnant Chicago woman was killed in the fray that claimed the lives of 13 soldiers Thursday.
Francheska Velez, 21, had just finished a tour in Iraq and returned to Ft. Hood three months pregnant. The Army had granted Velez, a 2006 graduate of Kelvyn Park High School, a maternity leave of abscence.
She was just weeks away from rejoining her family in Chicago. ...

I hope he's charged with 14 murders, then the MSM will be forced to report the death toll accurately.

Our State lost some sons and daughters yesterday.

Quote
MADISON, Wis. -- Two soldiers from Wisconsin were killed and three others were hurt in the shooting massacre at the Fort Hood Army Base on Thursday.

Officials said that 13 people were killed and about 30 were injured in the shootings. The suspect was hospitalized Friday in a coma.

Family members are confirming the deaths of two Wisconsin soldiers in Thursday's shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas.

Russell Seager's uncle said the 51-year-old from Racine was killed.

Larry Seager, of Mauston, said his niece told him Friday morning that Seager died. He said his nephew joined the Army a few years back because he was a psychiatrist who wanted to help returning veterans adapt back to civilian life. He said he still can't believe the news.

The other soldier who died has been identified by her mother as Amy Krueger, 29, of Kiel.

Jeri Krueger, of Kiel, told the Herald Times Reporter of Manitowoc that she was informed early Friday of daughter Amy Krueger's death.

The mother said her daughter was an Army sergeant with the Madison-based 467th Medical Detachment and had arrived at Fort Hood on Tuesday. She was scheduled to be sent to Afghanistan in December.

Kiel High School Principal Dario Talerico told the Associated Press that Krueger graduated from the school in 1998 and was proud to serve her country. He said she had spoken at least once to Kiel elementary school students about her career. Jeri Krueger said her daughter joined the Army shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Meanwhile, three other Wisconsin soldiers were injured in the shooting.

Dorothy Carskadon, a social worker with the 467th Medical Detachment, was injured in the shooting, WISC-TV reported.

St. Chad Episcopal Church in Rockford, Ill., is holding a vigil at 6 p.m. Friday for Carskadon. The church confirmed on Friday that Carskadon is in stable condition.

Carskadon started working at the Madison Vet Center as a team leader starting in April 2006. She previously worked as the social worker at the Rockford Vet Center Outstation since July 1997. Carskadon had returned to service as a social worker and is currently serving with the 467th Medical Detachment, according to the Madison Vet Center.

The father of Army Reserve Spc. Grant Moxon, 23, of Lodi, said his son was shot in the leg. Grant Moxon arrived at the Texas Army base on Wednesday and was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan, according to his father, Dave Moxon.

Grant Moxon was sitting in a processing room Thursday when he heard a commotion and found himself eye-to-eye with the shooter. After being shot above the knee he pretended to be dead until the shooter moved away.

Grant Moxon is a mental health specialist -- the same field as the suspected shooter, Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan. The third injured Wisconsin soldier was Amber Bahr, 19, of Random Lake. Her family said she was shot in the back.

On Friday, a military spokesman praised Bahr for her heroics. He said that she helped other soldiers injured in the Fort Hood shooting before tending to her own wounds. Lt. Gen. Bob Cone told NBC's "Today" show Friday that Bahr helped apply a tourniquet to an injured soldier. He said Bahr then attended to other soldiers before realizing she'd been shot.

The Madison-based unit, the 467th Combat Stress Control Army Reserve Detachment, apparently has 43 soldiers who were currently training at the Army facility.

Got you beat Sparky.

Years ago Mom and I were waiting to get through the gate to our ship yard when the driver of the car ahead of us seemed to have a problem.  Back then Marines were at the gate and this one woman driving on the base with a sticker on her car for some reason was asked for her ID.

I swear that woman had to have been drunk as she had misplaced her ID card and got out of the car and jacked up the Marines who were about 20-21 years old and had side arms.

She began to shriek at the too Marines, " Do you know who I am, my husband is Chief of the Boat."

I kid you not, she was escorted kicking and screaming into the guard shack, Mom and I laughed a bit too hard as I was pregnant at the time and thank God for plastic seats--easy to clean.

Another time in Vallejo when the Nuke School was at Mare Island my Hubby was an instructor at the school. 4 nights a week he tutored his students at home. Neighbors saw the kids coming in and out, they were left to wonder why.

One day talking to the neighbor next door a woman comes over from the next street and is really rude to me, she tells me she cannot associate with me as her husband had just made Chief.  About that time my hubby comes home an E9 and enters the house.

For some reason I got on MY high horse and told her I hoped her husband was not one of My husbands students.

Oh there are so few times in life when insulted that one can turn the tables big time on those that think they are better then you, not for what they have done but for the accomplishments of others.    :rotf: :rotf:

The real hell of all of this is that he's a freakin' DOCTOR!

HELLO!!!??

Tell me at what point he's going to grab a rifle and go lead a fire team into a building and sweep it for his "brothers"?

The most he'd be outside the safety and security of Camp Liberty or Balad Air Base is when he's in an MRAP the day he gets there and the day he leaves.

So the defense that "he was stressed about having to go into combat against his Muslim brethren" is totally out the window.

I'm glad that the authorities haven't closed the door on this being an act of terrorism.

Didn't I say something to that effect earlier ?? (Maybe it was on Facebook) :clueless:

My Grandfather was a doctor in the Army in WWII.  Then he was a Doctor at a VA hospital.  Although he grew up on a ranch, the only gun I ever saw him carry, or use was his 22 that he used to shoot squirrels in the back yard when he thought I wasn't looking.  He hated those buggers, ate his pecans.  My Dad was one of those officer-types, in the AF, you know the ones we don't speak of?  He didn't even HAVE a gun.

From what I understand about PTSD (and being told I have it).....I don't think it's possible to get it by hearing what someone else went through to cause it.

It's not a contagious disease....it's a mental/emotional trauma that one experiences in their own life.
