WASHINGTON — The Army psychiatrist suspected of carrying a shooting rampage at Fort Hood had come to the attention of authorities six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats, law enforcement officials said Thursday.

The postings appeared to have been made by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, accused of killing 12 people at the Army post and wounding 31 others. The officials say they are still trying to confirm that he was the author. They said an official investigation was not opened.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

One of the Web postings that authorities reviewed is a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

So much miss information being played out by the news.

Far as I know FOX was the only program to wait for conformation of his name.

For perhaps the only one posting on this subject I am glad he survived, he has much to tell as to the mind set of the privileged upper class of officers.

We need to know NOW what may be going through the minds of our Muslim future Comanders, class mates that are Muslim.

What kind of message will this send to our Muslim Cadets at the Military Academies, the Muslim foot soldier,?

We cannot remove anyone from our armed forces because of their religious beliefs, it has been tried before with Rickover and the Commanding officer in California that was an avowed Satenest.

Interesting problem here, how to stop a multitude of Muslim enlistees from taking down our country.?

This is just the tip of a huge ice Burg, what do you suppose this Doctor told his patients or heard from their experiences that caused him to loose HIS mind.

God Bless the private police woman that brought him down.  To be harmed or killed by a Mere woman is an insult to ALLAH---

BTW, I believe one of the problems with security on that Post was the over lap in security personal.  Private guards at the entry and exit points to the Post.  Each Battalion having its own security, very easy to think someone else is in charge when the unthinkable happens.

We the family's of those ready to deploy pray our family will be able to survive----No one thinks in the safety of a post that their loved ones will be killed like shooting fish in a barrel., on American soil by an officer that Commands others.

Get ready folks, as we pray for the family's that this monster took, there may be more monsters lurking in the closet.

I really fear for the back splash this may cause, what can we do when, a cancer on OUR society is given the right to eat us up from with in.?

Was this just one crazy man that caused all the carnage or is he a product of what may become a problem for our military, private police, town and state Troopers.?

Damn the unimaginable has happend, how do we prevent others from copy catting these acts.

Stream of ideas caused by the devastation one person can cause to others. Please forgive me, I have such fear of those in power that walk among us and are Wolves in sheep's clothing.

yep, that's why I pointed out in that other thread that he better then anyone would have known he was having mental issues if that's what it was. He's not crazy, he's poisoned by the ROP bs. He knew what he was doing. I could care less about this POS. I care more for the NOW 13!!! dead people he took out by his OWN actions no matter how those actions were motivated, but the point should never be lost on any civilized person who has extremist views at this point in history(psst, it's not the Christians DUmmies).

FORT HOOD, Texas – Soldiers who witnessed the shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire, the base commander said Friday.

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone said officials had not yet confirmed that the suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday, which left 30 people wounded, including the gunman.

An imam from a mosque Hasan regularly attended said Hasan, a lifelong Muslim, was a committed soldier, gave no sign of extremist beliefs and regularly wore his uniform at prayers.

Our President is a weak, cowardly, craven, sad sack of crap.  I forced myself to watch his address yesterday where he intended to speak about the massacre at Ft. Hood before addressing the Department of the Interior.  For 2 minutes and 38 seconds, that bumbling idiot stumbled all over the place, giving shout-outs, cracking smiles and jokes, and addressing various bureaucrats.  It was horrifying, to say the least.

He didn't even try, Odin, that was the most disgusting part about it.  It was clear he truly did not give half a crap about any of it.  I wouldn't have even said anything if he had come out right away and begun his address with some sort of mention of the events, offering condolences, etc.  What I saw instead was a shocking display of ineptitude and callousness.  He is filth.

If he was so committed, why did he receive a mediocre or worse OER while he was on assignment in DC?? Seems to me that he was probably shit canned from Bethesda and sent to Ft Hood. (That's just MY impression) Furthermore, it also seems that he was "radicalized" sometime while in DC. There are plenty of radical Mosques and even terrorist training camps not too far from DC. To deny that this was NOT a terrorist strike is naive, at best.

I would like to make a bit of a comment on Vesta's comment regarding "priviledge officer"....

Last night on Fox, Greta had a retired military man....I think he was an Army General - I have seen him on Fox before as he is one of their military refernce commentators.

This gentleman made the comment that Hasan was of the "priviledged upper class of officers, making 6 figures a year".....he went on to say, that this guy had become a Major most likely just because he had obtained his medical degree and finished his training....that it had nothing to do with battle experience, leading troops, etc. He also said Hasan would have had an 8 to 5 job in an office. Not a typical military job.

I took his reference of "priviledged officer" to mean that the guy was priviledged to get his rank through his education and priviledged in that he had a pretty "cushy" job, not obtained through his experience at commanding troops and going into battle.

Vesta said she was watching the coverage on Fox last night and I think this may be what she was referring to....

I, too, have some serious concerns about how a guy could go into the military right out of high school and spend the next several years....4 years undergrad, 4 years med school, 3 yrs minimal medical residency, at least 2-3 years of psych residency.....all paid for by the government and expected to be repaid by serving your country for X number of years...thinking he could get out of it because he didn't want to go to war.

Hellllooooooooo....he joined the military!!!! That means defending your country however you are able and doing so when told to.

I also heard his cousin say that Hasan was hoping that when Obama took office, he would pull the troops out and he (Hasan) would not have to go to war.

I have to agree with Thor....I really don't think this guy went nuts all on his own. I think there is way more to this than we know so far.

I did hear this morning that this guy jumped up on tables and was shooting down on people in cubicles.

This from a guy that according to the cousin, didn't even like going to the shooting range and made it sound like the guy was a wimpy pacifist.

Doesn't sound that way to me.....

How many soldiers truly in need of a competent doctor to treat what was ailing them mentally were seen by this idiot?

And what kind of further damage was done to them between the ears because of his dislike of the WoT and his unhappiness at bening deployed?

There will be a ripple effect from this asshats action that aren't even being thought of yet IMHO.

Because of his actions...you've now got soldiers in harms way that aren't 100% focusing on the mission in front of them...they are now worrying about their family members back home and if they are gonna be the next ones that are shot up?

How many soldiers that are shot in Iraq and Afghanistan in say the next 30 days will be secondary casulties of this idiot?

Let's not even get into the Officer/enlisted class thing. It's REAL and it's there. It's not AS noticeable in the Military Medical field, but it still exists. Where one can truly see the class divide is with the Academy Officers.

In a larger command, no doubt about it.  In smaller ones, not so much.  I mean, on the boats, under the right circumstances, most everyone at or below the Department Head level was on a first-name basis.  On the tender, some Chiefs and even PO1's would get their panties in a wad were you to intrude on their little fiefdoms or not adequately bow and genuflect before their self-erected altars.

Yeah, academy grads could be a PITA, but once they got knocked down a peg or two they became more or less human.
