Am I going to regret the Pillsbury bleached white flour on sale for $1.49/5 lbs?

I've been using Gold Medal unbleached, and have tinkered with my recipes until I mostly get acceptable loaves and buns. Pennywise and pound foolish here?

Pennywise and poundwise, both.

Naturally, the primitives disagree.

1. Unbleached is better for you and the environment.

So you gotta factor that in. Arguments could be made either way I suppose.

2. I tend not to buy the big corporate brands in the grocery, prefering to use either King Arthur or Hodgson Mills, both unbleached. I feel better about these choices for many reasons.

Now, as everyone knows, franksolich has nothing but respect and no little affection for Grandma, other than her stupid politics and her hatred of God.  Other than those two aberrations, Grandma's okay.

However.

Ahem.

One suspects that due to her age and condition, Grandma takes pharmaceuticals.

Perhaps not many, but some, mostly for female complaints.

One suspects Grandma buys big corporate brands at the pharmacy.

Martha White, Red Band or Southern Biscuit flour with lots of lard and buttermilk make the best bread (biscuits).

A pat of homemade butter, a dab of French's yellow mustard, a blob of Duke's Mayonaise, a big greasy, spicy chunk of sausage and you got something to eat that's fit to die for......uh.... come to think of it, it's already almost killed one once.....still good though.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Leave it to the DUmmies.  Eridani finds a bonafide bargain, and the monkeys have to piss in her cornflakes.  So many of these people lack confidence in the kitchen, and now Eri will likely throw out perfectly good flour, that would have made a lot of bread.  Pillsbury wasn't "PC" enough.  Asshats.
