Today's MRI had breaks because they had to change the machine's configuration and inject contrast dye. I was in and out of the tube 4 times. That made it not so bad. I even got a pee break!!
I started about 2:00 pm and got done just after 4:00 pm.
Oh Thor, you bring back some interesting memories. I no longer dare request medication before I climb into the belly of the beast.
I don't do well on pain medication or calm down drugs, they knew from my records that that stuff is a NO-NO for me.
Mom took me the first time and insisted I follow orders by the book. I was bullied into taking the medication by a 98 lb. old lady.
The result was for one full hour before the procedure she had a very happy drunk on her hands.
Only way I can handle an MRI is to jump in stone cold sober, not even an aspirin in my system and listen to Enya through the ear piece. Keep eyes closed and let my other senses take over.
I HAVE to think of this experience as an adventure, scary but one that will not cause pain.
As you may need to experience an MRI again in your life time, now you know the ropes and will have no fear.
That first time is a big time experience, as you repeat the experience, the fear of the unknown lessens.
By now you have completed the process, a multi million dollar diagnostic test that for most of us gives us the Willy Wases.
Congratulations, you are one of the few that the staff does not have to chase trying to run away.
I do hope all will turn out well from this test, that they can pin point the problem and correct it.
My fingers are crossed that this test will free you from pain and allow you to go where you want to go, do what you want to do.
