Good luck... that sounds unpleasant.

I replaced the starter in my car over the weekend, and now it seems to have stopped working again.  I'm taking a sick day because I feel like it; I haven't missed a day of work since 2003.

Back at work today. The headache is gone but I'm still congested. My nose feels raw from blowing it so much (TMI?).

Tonight might be a movie night. I have Little Miss Sunshine, The Proposal, and some Season 3 Dexter episodes from Netflix.

I think I just need to take it easy until I'm completely better.

Thanks for well wishes. Worst case, I go to an open-sided MRI. My problem is that the tube they slide one into is a little on the small side, at least for my size. The benefits of the place I chose is that the MRIs are very detailed because they use the strongest magnet available for MRIs. From what I understand, the open sided MRIs are not as detailed. I just hope that the Xanax does what it's supposed to do and helps curb my claustrophobia. I MIGHT have them sedate me, if that is practical and safe with the meds I'm taking.

I'm extremely overworked in my job right now - way too much going on pulling me in too many different directions. All week I've been hopping from one crisis to another. As if I needed another -- got to work this morning to find a message from the building property manager that one of our employees had their kid on the 9th floor at 6:30 AM and said kid set off the fire alarm. Trucks were called out and all the emergency building staff.

My boss (a senior vp) interjected himself into it and veheminently denied that it could have been an employee. He sent out a very curt email to the building staff and copied all the effected floor managers accusing that it was one of the janitor's kids and was most definitely not one of our employees. He even stopped by my office and told me it was the janitor.

Then I get a call from the bldg mgr that "no - it was one of our employees who had a 9 yr old kid up there at 6:30 and said employee even confessed to the fire department that it was her kid who did it. It was a black woman he said, there is only one on that floor. So now I've got to correct my boss, thrash her to keep the kid under control, apologize to the janitor and smooth over things with the bldg people. Then it was noon, so I left for lunch.

To be continued.....

Sorry you are feeling crappy Flame..sounds kinda like how I felt the last 2 days. Worked out again this am and did fine so think I'm back in  my routine there. Have a yummy new crockpot recipe going and started raking the yard(no bags so put it off until tomorrow). Already made it to Wallyworld for a few things and have done some light cleaning. Gotta go take care of a couple of phone calls now and plug in the puter for a while.

Feeling better around here. Had a mild fever, sore throat, etc. on Monday. Took a sick day yesterday, but, don't want to keep burning my sick days though. Will definately be back at work tomorrow. Need to catch up on some physiology studies today.

Went to my daughters school to help the teacher this morning.  They called on Friday to say that my husband had won a gift basket that he had bid on at the Harvest Festival so I picked it up while I was there too.  It looks yummy.

Seabrook Death March--Day 38.

We MIGHT close the breaker this weekend, but we've got a 345KV line outage scheduled starting Sunday.  Another week on shift.  However, the good news is that one of those days is Veteran's Day.  Holiday pay--WOOT!!!  Double-time and a half for 12 hours!!!!

The MRI went well today, but I'm STILL sort of drugged. One Lyrica around noon and a total of two Xanax. Pretty much worthless the rest of the day/ night. (DON"T ANYBODY DARE touch that statement!!) Tomorrow is Part Deux. That will be a little more intensive as I won't get any breaks during the MRI. Two hours of just laying there. They're doing the Thoracic and lumbar sections of my spine.  I get the CD after it's all said and done. I expect to be under the influence again tomorrow, hopefully to be able to take less meds, but I dunno. Perhaps I'll take them earlier and let them really get in my bloodstream.

Today's MRI had breaks because they had to change the machine's configuration and inject contrast dye. I was in and out of the tube 4 times. That made it not so bad. I even got a pee break!! :)  I started about 2:00 pm and got done just after 4:00 pm.

Oh Thor, you bring back some interesting memories. I no longer dare request medication before I climb into the belly of the beast.

I don't do well on pain medication or calm down drugs, they knew from my records that that stuff is a NO-NO for me.

Mom took me the first time and insisted I follow orders by the book. I was bullied into taking the medication by a 98 lb. old lady.

The result was for one full hour before the procedure she had a very happy drunk on her hands.

Only way I can handle an MRI is to jump in stone cold sober, not even an aspirin in my system and listen to Enya through the ear piece.  Keep eyes closed and let my other senses take over.

I HAVE to think of this experience as an adventure, scary but one that will not cause pain.

As you may need to experience an MRI again in your life time, now you know the ropes and  will have no fear.

That first time is a big time experience, as you repeat the experience, the fear of the unknown lessens.

By now you have completed the process, a multi million dollar diagnostic test that for most of us gives us  the Willy Wases.

Congratulations, you are one of the few that the staff does not have to chase trying to run away.

I do hope all will turn out well from this test, that they can pin point the problem and correct it.

My fingers are crossed that this test will free you from pain and allow you to go where you want to go, do what you want to do.

Vesta, this wasn't the first MRI I've had. I've had four or five before. However, this IS the first time I've ever suffered symptoms of claustrophobia that prevented me from having an MRI. I suppose that with my cold, the smaller size of the tube, the warmth of the room, the lack of airflow and who knows what other factors just exacerbated my claustrophobia. Hell, once I was in that tube, I couldn't even move my arms. It's just not designed for X-Large people. (I'm 6'4" and 260ish)

It took me screaming at the tech to get me out, before it sunk into his pea brain that I was in a full fledged panic attack.

I don't do well on drugs either....but it's the only way they got me back in or will ever get me into one again.

I've had several MRI's done. Once was on my left thumb. I spent the entire time face down on that hard ass table with my arm straight out over my head with the rest of me hanging out. It hurt, bad, real BAD. Real real real bad. I had numb and throbbing things all over my body. Bones were dug into that table that shouldn't have been and no blood flow in several areas. Profanities were uttered.  :innocent:

Any other times I was slid on in and I'd close my eyes and drift off. Then they'd wake me up to ask me if I was OK. That sorta pisses me off a wee bit.

You sound just enough perfect from my view point of men------A BIG HUNK

I had to learn to work with claustrophobia and fear of heights for years, it takes constant exposure to these thing before one can become accustomed to them.

10 years of not going into small spaces or climbing way up 3 or more storeys seemes to leave my comfort level much faster then I had to go through to be able to handle them.

Second MRI I was over confident, just climb in at 110 lbs. lay down and go for whatever.

Problem was I did not wiggle around enough to become completely comfortable.  My left arm was against a hard surface.   As the test went on that arm began to HURT, it was being thumped and bumped for what seemed like forever.

After the test my arm was black and blue from wrist to shoulder.

Since you are twice my size I can understand how you had little if no wiggle room. Could not have been a pleasent experience for you.

I have another MRI coming up in Jan., lucky to get an appointment this soon, every thing seems to be over booked.

How long will it take for you to get the results from the test.?   Will your Doctors show you the films taken, can you demand to see them before some doctor decides to slice and dice.?

I was referred to a surgeon that before even looking at my test results told me he he had to operate.  I could not get out of his office fast enough.
