1980.

I was 21, had been married for a year, and Reagan was the first president I voted for.  I missed Carter by 2 months, I was 17 when the dipshit peanut farmer was elected, my first voting experience was the following year for Virginia state and local officials.

I remember during the Carter years working on the family dairy farm, trying to battle his economic policies that brought us his PIK program that would lower the surplus of corn stocks in the country.  That it did, but what Dumbass Carter and the DIMorat congress didn't divulge was when corn prices went above a targeted amount, all the corn we received would have to be paid for, AT THE HIGHER PRICE!

Between that, double-digit inflation (I bought a house in 1979 when I got married at 17.9% APR interest, which was about the going rate), Carter's "enlightened" foreign policies, and his wanting to french kiss every two-bit tinhorn dictator in the world, I wonder how this country survived.

But we did, and Carter's "genius" brought us Reagan.  Today, I see Carter again in Zero.  I have no doubt that Zero's "leadership" will bring us the next Reagan....

Only about 375 days until we neuter this jackass (hopefully with a 2-house Republican majority), THEN we relinquish him of command, and send him and his house ho back to Chitown....

Well I had no idea I was to cause a controversy.  For the record, Homecreek sent me a PM and said sorry.

Lord Undies, I'm not sure what your purchasing power comment above means.  Yes, it was a paltry sum.  I was just a teenager and living at home.  It was just enough for some spending money.  Because it was a private club, they could live above the law in certain other areas, such as:  Letting a 15 year old work, and training me later on in bartending, before I turned 18.  It was shitty money, but man did I learn alot working there.
