Florence Nightingale.....chances are no one else will, so the teacher won't be able to compare it with anyone elses.Besides, she was pretty neat....
That is a great idea. I'm printing off information about her now for my daughter to read to see if she wants to use her.
There are a couple of good biographies that are easily written for 5th grade level, no politics, lived long enough to do a decent report on, but not such an entailed life that it's impossible to hit everything(like Ronald Reagan's)

As a non-Catholic student of the church, my suggestion would be Pope John Paul I, only 33 days as pontiff, but a very interesting fellow, and very controversial to the church........doc
