I think the basic gist is, if you want to get an reaction out of the feds, go ahead and threaten - even in a joking  or superficial way - the president.

The Secret Service doesn't give a whit who actually inhabits the WH - if Lucifer himself were elected to office, they'd protect him and his family.

However, one thing that struck me was the option of answering "yes, if he cuts my healthcare".

That would imply someone who expects healthcare and lots of it. That is an odd sub-set of respondents to appeal to...especially for what DU presumes to be a freeper. This may disappear faster than we think.

I absolutely agree..its wrong anyway you look at it. My husband said he would step in front of a bullet to protect him...its about the country,the office and not about weather or not you agree with him.

If I were a member of the Secret Service I might feel that way, as it would be my duty, but as a private citizen, I value my life just as much as any president's life.

We have no idea what or how we would react in situations like this, we act on instinct.

People that cannot swim leap into the water to save a drowning stranger.

People will run into burning building to rescue a dog or cat belonging to strangers.

We have people that are willing to loose hundreds of dollars in pay to take off work to pull horses and dogs out of trouble.

Unfortunately instinct to help a life human or not is being lost for some reason.  Humans stand by and watch calmly and at a safe distance as a child is beaten and kicked to death on a city street. Had that child been a dog, the crowd watching would have unleashed furor and gone after the punks.

 So who would take the bullet for Obama, it would have to be a person running on instinct, someone that has lost all sense of their own well fare, a spontaneous reaction to the situation.

It could be me, you or your uncle Joe that hates the man.  This is not something one thinks about or plans, this is human instinct to protect our leader even as our personal feeling get pushed back from our thinking logical mind.

This is the same thing that causes children to protect an abusive parent.

No criminal charges will be filed against the juvenile or the juvenile's parents, spokesman Edwin Donovan said. Donovan would not identify the names of the child or parents or say where they are from.

The poll, posted Saturday on Facebook, was taken off the popular social networking site quickly after company officials were alerted to its existence. But, like any threat against the president, Secret Service agents took no chances.

The poll asked respondents "Should Obama be killed?" The choices: No, Maybe, Yes, and Yes if he cuts my health care.

After Secret Service agents met with the child and the child's parents, they determined there was no intent to harm the president.

"Case closed," Donovan said. "I guess you could characterize it as a mistake."

The poll was not created by Facebook, but by an independent person using an add-on application that had been suspended from the site, Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt said earlier this week.
