Call me a Whaaa-bulance, I had to get a jobbie-job

No more surfbum/jewelery maker, have my coffee at the crack of noon days. I left my former firm a year and a half ago and I have had it pretty easy since then. I was hoping that my jewelry making could generate enough moo-la before my little cash stash ran out. I wasn't even close.

The last two days I've been interviewing for a financial adviser position. I got a call today that I made the cut and tomorrow I start preping for my series 65 exam, shortly followed by a series 7 exam.

Now I'm back in the finance industry, and my new company is a white shirt and tie, w/ black wingtip shoe type corporation. At least I won't be trading commodities any more.

6. Dude, I might be joining you back in Corporate America TM.

I had a telephone interview for a tech writing job on Tuesday.... now it's just a matter of funding it. The boss really liked me. I really liked her. I should know something in a couple of weeks.

The good news is I would get about a 13K pay raise.

So, I hear ya.

I'd love to bum around and just be a freelance novelist and playwright. Be my own boss and not have a care in the world.

and most of the responses are like this..

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. I've got a kevlar kayak in mind and they don't come cheap. I was making a ducket here and there but I noticed that sales are off by nearly 50% or more over last year. I will not stop making jewelry, and a matter of fact I'm going to start making stuff for myself; A heavy squash blossom necklace, bolos, tie pins, cuff links, rings collar tips. You know, the usual Indian bling. Of course Alison demands her due so there will be no slacking off on the jewelry making. Umm.. I have a proven history of sneaking in a surf session during working hours now and then.. so I think I can make the adjustment.

hang ten buddy..

who wants to bet on how long he keeps this job? after admitting he will sneak out to surf, and not cut off his pony tail... i'm thinking he doesnt really want to work.

of course, it will be everyone elses fault.. and not his.

we should keep an eye on this guy...

Ahh, so they finally figured it out. Hobbies cost money. Goods cost money. To GET that money you have to give up something you own, I.e., your time and work.

i'm not sure this OP has it figured out yet. he is by his own admission, 'long in the tooth' to be surfing, so i'm going to imagine he's at least in his early 30s..

i give him less than six months. then Alison will be upset she isnt getting enough indian jewelry bling .. and he'll be all put out with The Man and be back to beach bummin..

I feel sorry for the poor people that randomly get a DUmpmonkey for a financial adviser.  Kiss that nest egg goodbye. :bawl:
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Anybody else find it ironic that an idiot who thought that it could sustain a savings while making jewelry is now going to be a financial advisor???????

Jewelry making.  :lmao:  roffles.

The dipshit probably means twisting wire and stringing beads, not real designing, model-making, and casting incandescent metal then finishing it like yours truly.  Of course in my case I don't try to make a living at it, it pays its own costs plus a couple thou a year, and I have two real jobs that pay the bills.  Anyone wants to see my work, PM me and I'll send you the linky-dink.
