No Social Security $$ increase until 2012; Obama double crosses his base, media smothers the story

This is another important story being smothered by the Democrat controlled media.

The Obama administration has quietly announced there will be no raise in social security payments next year and maybe not until 2012, a presidential election year.

Citing a 2008 third quarter cost of living decline, Congress has voted no cost of living increase in next year’s Social Security checks for the first time since 1973.

The Democrats are pointing to their own prediction of a “… [steady] decline in consumer prices through the first three quarters of this year…” Based on this they claim to foresee no need for raises until possibly 1212.

Democrats ignore Consumer Price Index: hide behind flat Inflation

Obama’s base will suffer the most. While 80% of our big cities voted for Obama it’s apparent the elderly, both White and minority, will be asked to “balance the budget” by themselves. There might not be any inflation but the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has risen steadily since January, and people are living by the CPI not the rate of inflation.

BTW--the no COLA applies to military and government retirees as well.  Whoops.

And a little further investigation reveals that the NYT was discussing the "possibility" of no COLA as far back as May.  Double whoops.

I am sure that these same people will appreciate being forced to write a living will or ask in writing whether its a life worth living will make up for the SS payments not being increased. Remember when the GOP Presidents got bashed when they only gave them a few percent?

We have been warned so now is the time to prepare.

If you are 8-10 years from retirement and like millions of people without a pot to pees in or a window to throw it out, now is the time.

The people I see retire at work have worked about 45+ years, own their own home and lost 3/4 of their retirement funds.

I watch as various schemes are used to survive, some sell their homes at a loss, winterise their summer camps and live there.

Some have family search for pet friendly apartments  near a major hospital.

Allot of folks to my surprise sell homes buy big trucks and travel trailers and just roam about the country----Gas, food and a map of truck stops to park the night will do it.

How to pay for all this, sell your home, take the equity and for $90,000  and one or 2 SS. checks a month you are a true Gypsy,  visit the kids 2-3 times a year the rest of the year you are free to  be a Roamer about this huge country.


We sold out 22 foot camper years ago and I wish we hadn't,  easy to pull, slept 6, full bathroom and kitchen, awning,  :banghead:   What I liked about it was everything was propane, ever see a gas refrigerator .?     There were even 3 gas lights installed that we never used.

What to do, time to make plans and really down scale life, the 401k will come back ,down the road, even on $800.00 a month with a good set up, one can live the life of the open road and see what is on the other side of that mountain.

As you can see I refuse to retire and live around one place,  I intend to get to see as much as I can of Planet earth before I die.

I starting to think Obama is a Rovian plot to get conservatives back into power.

I can't wait until this story actually does break mainstream and all the people who stymied Bush in 2005 launch forward with no sense of hypocrisy or MSM scrutiny and blame him for having done nothing.

Neutral? Heck no a cash cow thundley, think of  the influx of $ from the death tax.  Take our friend Vesta,  the only ride she will be gettin is in a black limo with a roller floor after which enters the tax man to take a piece of the action.  Don't be sick.

Vesta, when the double wide gets sold darlin there is this little thing called a transfer tax don't ya see.  A lot of states have that one.  Sure the kids get the farm, but when they sell it the state gets a share. If passed, I don't think this monstrosity goes into effect until 2013. I will either be in Panama, Belize or Ecuador if that happens. I will not participate in Obama care; if some bureaucrat told me to go home and die because treatment/surgery is not cost effective, I might just take a couple of them with me.
