I have three friends who have to leave the country by the end of the month, I hope all you who feel
only Americans deserve jobs are happy with the results of the HB1 resrictions in TARP. I'm sure some of you will be happy they have to leave so those jobs can go to their rightfull owners, ie "Red blooded Mericans."
How someone can think one person has more of a right to a job because of where they were born and still claim to be a part of humanity is beyond me.

Sounds good to me.

44. According to the corpotatist globalists it's only bad when the US does it.
It's "protectionism" and "nativism" when we do it, but when, say, Japan or France does it it's totally OK.

If so, this one has had some genuine DU legends.

Anybody remember the Dummie threads ?

DUmmies, the TARP restrictions on H-1B visas means that companies that accepted TARP funds, and only those companies, are required to actively recruit American workers before hiring an H-1B employee.  Either the Foreign Nationals' employers didn't want to spend the money to recruit US workers, or a qualified US worker was found if they have to leave as a result of the new legislation.

OH NOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have three friends that have to obey the rules....
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Get a grip here, I have seen friends of Asian decent get the boot.

Somehow these illegals were able to buy homes, pay taxes and contribute to our economy.

Did the banks that lent them money care that these people were not legals,  how did they get drivers licences when they could not speak English much less read road signs.? They put their kids in school, did no one demand shot records or a birth certificate,?

I know of at least 5 people that have brought their parents to our country, all are over the age of 65 and on getting off the plane qualify for government benefits that are more then the average American that is poor gets.

Suck it up baby, we have no choice but to watch as America becomes a welcome center for others and we pay the price.

  • Make America Great Again. Deport some DUmmies.
It was a wonderful day about two years ago when 351 illegals were sent home from one New Bedford business and the management arrested for hiring them. It sent a clear message. If you want to become an American, do it the right way. If you intentionally hire illegals to save money, you risk losing your business.

The new Obama version is to only arrest the business owner and to detain and interview the illegals one by one, looking at each case separately -- a waste of time and resources. If one is here on an expired visa, or no visa at all, and one gets caught, one gets shown the door. Plain and simple. Cost effective.

If it weren't for those evil corporations offering jobs, the poor migrants wouldn't be coming here looking for a job. It's all the fault of the corporations that are making these poor people abandon their families in Mexico.  0Bama should take the profits from these corporations and use that money to bring the families of those poor migrant workers here so they can be reunited. Awah hell, DUmmie. Why don't you just go with'em.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Well, it is not that easy.  We have to take a long look at the laws put in place 250+ years ago.

80% of the country was illiterate.  Immigrants were stampeding into our city's that at that time had no public utilities at all.  Disease was rampent, the fire department was volunteer with the bucket brigade.  The police were thugs, murderers and extortionists.

Most immigrants from Europe, Asia, Africa slave trade, could not speak English.

However, as bad as things were in the cities, they were worth the problems of those getting here as life was So much worse in their birth country.

We had to jump start this country somehow, we had the French in the south Spanish in the west and Russia owned Alaska.  No one knew what was to our west or North West or had traveled into our Plains area.

The law that everyone born on American soil was an American was a tool needed to, at that time gain loyality from the first generation imergrents and their family.

Our founding fathers were the first public relation genious to come down the pike.

Most of our laws were written by people that would never live to see the 19 th. century.

We have broken with tradition before---Anti-slavery-womans right to vote-proabition and the repeal- abortion rights { I have yet to see that covered in the bill of rights}.

We are in a quagmire here about how to controll others that are now using our own laws against us for their gain.

What about the children I hear from every quarter.   Well, what about the children, is it not time that the parents face facts that if they break the law their children will suffer .?

One cannot have any kind of society where adults hide behind the backs of their children using them as a shield against their own wrong doing.

A small change in our laws will do US no harm, say-both parents have to be citizens for the child to be considered a natural born American-----OOOOPS------Where would that leave Obama.

Perhaps I need to re-think this, sometimes my mouth gets ahead of my brain.

Allow me to go slightly off topic for a minute to address this.

The issue of slavery and the ending of it actually WAS addressed in the Constitution.  There was a sunset clause to end it written into the doccument.

Also while the Race Pimps and white guilt folks like to bemoan the 3/4ths rule about slaves as proof we were racist in our roots.

The FF's actually did that as a way to blunt the effects of slavery to prevent slave state representatives from controlling the House of Representatives.  Not because they looked at the Black man as less than human.

Ok back to the original tpoic.

During the Bush years, someone suggesting closing the border was called a racist and a xenophobe.  Now, the primitives who hurled those phrases have become the racists and xenophobes, and all because they have to march in lockstep with Dear Leader.  If primitives weren't mindless robots, they wouldn't know what to do.

Well, in the original writing of the COTUS, the sunset clause you refer to was that after 1808 (20 years after the proposal of the document), the IMPORTATION of more slaves from Africa would be illegal, but the continued trade of "existing stock", including offspring, was legal.  It wasn't til the 13th Amendment, IIRC, that one person owning another, either in whole or by indenture, was to be illegalized.
And, small correction, the compromise was that "other persons" (ie slaves) would be counted as 3/5 of a person.  This was a compromise as the South, for the reason you stated, wanted them to count as a whole person and would walk out if they didn't, and the North didn't want to give the South that much clout.  The North had to give them something to keep them at the table, so they gave them 3/5.
