Health reform in jeopardy as House delays action
« on: July 10, 2009, 04:42:15 PM »
Quote
House Democrats will not unveil their full healthcare reform package on Friday nor begin committee work on the bill next week as planned, the latest sign that President Obama’s signature domestic initiative is in trouble.

The delay caps off a rocky week for Democrats and puts Obama’s goal of having both chambers pass a bill by the August recess increasingly at risk.

In spite of the disorder among congressional Democrats, Obama said his goals and timeline remain doable.

“There are going to be some tough negotiations in the days and weeks to come, but I'm confident that we're going to get it done,” Obama said during a news conference in Italy Friday.

Nevertheless, Obama acknowledged his August deadline could slip. “I never believe anything is do-or-die but I really want to get it done by the August recess,” he said....

Where else do they belong if not under the bus?

Hi,

I am not buying this one.  The libs did not want to unveil their plan and have congress go on recess which would give the public time to mount opposition.  It was a calculated move so they can ram it through when they get back just like the other crap they have pushed through without being read.

Wishful thinking about the libs going under the bus......boy I hope I am flat wrong and you are right.

They just want to pass it while everyone is looking the other way and after they amend it with 700 pages at 3AM the night before the vote.

I have a great idea for healthcare reform.....everyone pays upfront outta pocket or you don't get treatment.....it'll reduce the cost several ways.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to ,mourn, moan, whine about the loss of _____________(insert DUmmies name), Friend, neighbor, dope user and general all round deadbeat. When it came to doing nothing, __________(insert DUmmie name) was the best. He could beg a dollar of the hardest hearted rightwinger, scam the smartest merchant, cheat the biggest credit card companies, get the most free groceries from food banks but he never could get descent healthcare for free. What is this world coming to when a man has to earn his way by the sweat of his brow.....now will you all please pass by and kick a little dirt on his body as I sprinkle bong water over him as we conclude this eco-friendly funeral and return his body to Gia....you know ashes to ashes, dust to dust and all that stuff......and lastly but not leastly.....who has a hit of acid they can spare?"
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

I think everyone should call their Senators and tell them to vote against cap and tax (trade). Then they should call their rep and senator and register all complaints about the medical plan.

If they're inundated with complaints, they just might listen. They fear getting out of office and losing their cushy job with all the benefits.

A month or two ago, it looked like health care was a slam dunk. Now I am not so sure that the Democrats have the votes and that's the reason for the postponement. It looks like even it makes thru the House, it will not muster the 60 votes needed in the Senate. Consequently, I am not too concerned of what the House of R. does. The fight will be in the Senate. All of these critters in the House are up for re-election in 010. They are more concerned about getting re-elected than any single issue.

Hi,

SOMEONE HELP ME ON THIS ONE.  I think one of the things that scuttled the health care bill with Hillary was the fact that it was unveiled, then congress went home for recess and caught all kinds of hell about it, then they came back and did not have the votes.  Daschle made it clear that it must be passed quickly so the public does not have time to voice opposition.  I thought they would wait until they got back from recess so that did not happen.  Now I hear that it will be unveiled today.....under the cover of the Sotomayer hearings....like no one will notice.

According to Glenn Beck this is right out of the Sol Alinsky playbook, overwhelm the system with so much crap all at once the media and dissenters cannot focus on one item.  Problem is the stupid democrats are going along with it when many have to realize, deep down, this is terrible for the country.
