Mia--look at Palin's approval ratings BEFORE she was tapped for VP, as opposed to now.

You think some of that might have something to do with the constant attacks?  Remember, the Anchorage paper is another left-wing hack job who hasn't missed an opportunity to take a pot shot or a thousand at her, either.

Let's all be honest, the attacks are not attacks on her policies, but on her family and herself. Imagine if Obama were subject to the same disassembling by the media.... imagine if his policies were questioned.

IIRC, it was Evan Thomas who said that media bias was giving Kerry at least a 15-point edge in 2004, even with the few critical stories about him.

How much of an advantage do you think the media gives Zerobama with their fawning and personal attacks on his critics/opponents?  And face it, everyone--there are still those (sadly, a majority) who DON'T look or think beyond what the MSM tells them; i.e., well, if Katie Couric says Palin is dangerous, it **MUST** be true!

What is truly scary is that so many people saw clips of Tina Fey doing her Palin bit and believed that it was Palin. That was almost as damaging as the mud slinging was.

The most important info in Palin's explanation, thanks to Thor

Every one – all 15 of the ethics complaints have been dismissed. We’ve won! But it hasn't been cheap - the State has wasted THOUSANDS of hours of YOUR time and shelled out some two million of YOUR dollars to respond to “opposition research” – that’s money NOT going to fund teachers or troopers – or safer roads. And this political absurdity, the “politics of personal destruction” … Todd and I are looking at more than half a million dollars in legal bills in order to set the record straight. And what about the people who offer up these silly accusations? It doesn’t cost them a dime so they’re not going to stop draining public resources – spending other peoples’ money in their game.

Half a million in personal expenses, two million in Alaska's tax money, and the liberal haters are still filing bogus ethics complaints that cost them nothing while wasting precious resources during a recession.

Exactly!!!!! I'm kind of glad she is resigning. The muzzle that's required while holding public office is going to be off. Go ahead, come after Sarah the private citizen and see what happens libtards.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

You go Sarah!

Wow! Palin holding at 55% is rather impressive in my opinion. Especially when taking into account that almost the entire national media and entertainment industry has been tearing her down constantly since she was announced as the VP candidate. I have to wonder how much lower that Murkowski's numbers would be among Alaskans if she had faced the same months of constant wide-spread attacks.

Lets not forget that her rating was at a whopping 85 percent before McCain picked her.  McCain did her no favors, especially by not supporting her against those on his own staff who went out of their way to attack her.

When McCain's own staff went after her, she should have pulled out and left him hanging.

While I respect McCain's service, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO RESPECT FOR HIM.

The beauty of the whole thing is that now that she is a private citizen again, when the liber-turd media defames her, she can sue them for defamation.

Except it hasn't costs the state $2 million, it's cost $296,000.  Link

The point remains that state money was wasted on unfounded , untrue , politically motivated allegations.  If only elected officials had some recourse to reclaim personal money that is spent in defending these allegations.

Here is where I am confused.

Liberals are pitching a fit over this. The poo flinging at Sarah Palin has increased since she annonced her plans to leave. Wouldn't the liberals be HAPPY about this? From what I have seen on the news, they still hate the woman ( for what, I have no idea) and being their usual nasty selves.

Can you blame the woman for wanting to leave?

The article seems to read as 300K to outside sources. It doesn't include wasted state employee wages.

New Frivolous Ethics Complaint Filed Against Governor Palin
By Tim Lindell

Anti-Palin blogger Geoffrey Dunn at the Huffington Post:

Quote
In the wake of Governor Palin stepping down from her job, new allegations have surfaced today in Alaska charging Palin with additional violations of the Alaska Executive Ethics Act.

Zane Henning -- a conservative If he's conservative, then I'm Elvis. government watchdog from the governor's hometown of Wasilla and an oilfield worker on Alaska's North Slope -- asserts in a letter to Alaska Attorney General Daniel S. Sullivan that Palin has "been charging and pocketing per diem to live in her home and has used the process for a personal gain since being elected."

Please note that, true to form, Henning published his frivolous complaint in a press release, violating the confidentiality provisions of the Executive Ethics Act.

We have previously debunked the bogus per diem claims here and here.

UPDATE: For those who may have forgotten, Henning was the same guy who filed an ethics complaint against the Governor for doing an interview in her office. It was tossed out, of course.

Ethics complaints against Gov. Sarah Palin and top members of her administration have cost the state personnel board...

So, one agency has been forced to spend $296,000...and that's the total for the state?  Sure.   ::)

I'll admit that this is a wild guess, but I'd bet that the governor has a better handle on ALL state expenses than the liberal news media that hates her.  Palin has been caught in a lot fewer lies than the media.

Palin's office details complaint costs

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Sarah Palin's office has released a nearly $2 million cost breakdown detailing what the resigning Alaska governor says the state has paid tackling ethics complaints against her.

The spreadsheet compiled by the governor's office totals more than $1.9 million reportedly spent by various state agencies to handle the complaints as well as public records requests.

Palin, who steps down July 26, has racked up more than $500,000 in personal legal debts on top of that.

According to the cost breakdown, expenditures by the state Department of Law added up to more than $850,000.
