I really wouldn't mind if she now became a senator or the head of the RNC - I mean, geeze, look at Steele and Martinez - she's a BIG improvement over that.

And this could sound like she's open to the idea of going third party:

. . . "I WILL support others who seek to serve, in or out of office, for the RIGHT reasons, and I don't care what party they're in or no party at all. Inside Alaska – or Outside Alaska". . .

Now that would harm the GOP for an election or two, but the Whigs had the same thing happen to them. I want Obama to be a one-termer, but that's a cross purpose. :( I just hope Andrea Mitchell is lying again.

Overall, I still have a high respect for her and wish her the best...I voted for her after all and that dickhead who ran with her.

I don't think she would have done this without good reason.  She's not a stupid woman.  She has legal bills a mile high, and staying in office would have only invited more frivolous abuse from people like Linda Kellen Biegel and her backers in the Democratic Party and the Alaska legislature.  The state will not reimburse her for her legal expenses; staying in the governor's office would have been a losing proposition.

I'm not happy about the change, but I don't think its the end of Sarah Palin.

Bingo, miskie. She has had six months to mull over making some kind of move. She seized the opportunity to rake Letterman over the coals just a couple weeks ago (and did famously).

As to whatever kind of reaction she might get for stepping down, I think that'll blow over in the remake of her image.

Last week before MJ died and all the news became about him....there was some talk about a book that just came out regarding McCain's run for president. .....I don't know who the author is.....anyhow....they were talking about how the loss was blamed on Palin.

The way everything gets blamed on that woman...I'm surprised the rumor mongers and Democrats have not heaped 9/11 on her too!!

If she runs for Senate....for 2010....she would have a term in and run for Pres....isn't that what Obama did and got elected!!

My opinion of her hasn't changed (I like her)....I'm sad for her and the people of Alaska that she felt she had to resign....but with a fortune in legal bills staring her in the face....and having to constantly defend herself against all the personal attacks...she is correct in that she is probably not getting much accomplished as governor.

It's rather pathetic that some people have nothing else to do than attack that woman for one reason or another!

Palin is the new Bush only she's actually conservative.  I really do think it is a case of her putting the citizens of Alaska over her own personal ambitions.  How much work can be done with the Palin-haters filing ethic complaint after ethic complaint.

I don't know what her future is, I hope it is as Madam President, but like she said, people don't need an office in order to be effective.

you sure about that?  during her last election (the first since her father, the newly-elected governor, appointed her to fill what had been his senate seat) she damn near lost.  since then, I haven't heard anything about her, positive or negative.

Mia--look at Palin's approval ratings BEFORE she was tapped for VP, as opposed to now.

You think some of that might have something to do with the constant attacks?  Remember, the Anchorage paper is another left-wing hack job who hasn't missed an opportunity to take a pot shot or a thousand at her, either.
