Ok,This ones freaky...

At my day program today, they did a "presentation" for disaster preparedness.(holy shit the filmstrip was just nauseatingly brady bunchy kinda stupid,I was groaning and laughing through most of it,like everybody else.)

Anyway they went over what to do in a crisis event.

Like food,medicine,pets,shelter,flu symptoms etc.

Never before had we done anything like that in the time I have been there. In the group room I was in, I had no idea they even HAD a projection screen in there.

Later I asked why was this crisis preparation class done today?

I was told that the director of the program was told by the state to do it today....Weird.

Usually the state contacts the prp's to tell them their budget is getting cut again, or it's notification of some banal conference or a training thing. My feeling I get from the state is they just want our kind of folks to just disappear or be"productive" because the program costs them money.(a piss in the ocean compared to the military budget BTW)

I'm guessing maybe this class was held today so the state and the county MH boards could claim we told you so,If a member gets sick or the shit hits the fan, or it could be the state knows something we do not.Or it is more hype, Or it's just make sure we know what to do ..I dunno, regardless it makes me wonder..what's going on behind the 'scenes'. It feels like someone is stoking fear.Or the H1N1 Virus is worse than we are being told.

That would be nice if that were actually to happen, the bold area above.

No one showed up at the subway cat's bonfire, at least for now.

Presentation was all about how to say, "It's Bush's fault."
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Yeah. No offense to frank, but when I read the title the first thing to pop into my head was "and water is wet".

Yeah. No offense to frank, but when I read the title the first thing to pop into my head was "and water is wet".

Right, that was a pretty unexciting headline.

But sometimes I'm not up to par, and can't contrive a good eye-grabber for a headline.

I wasn't complaining frank. I do realize that dealing with such redundancy as UGP and freaky can be a challenge. You're still the man when it comes to thread titles.

Yep, again no offense to Frank.  The title had me thinking that "Sun Rises in the East" was breaking news. :-)

Does this mean that the subway cat is in some sort of treatment program?  Taxpayer supported from the sound of it.   Why didn't she go into details about the preparedness program?  I know any good conservative program would involve stocking up on food and ammo.

Oh yes, the subway cat's in all sorts of treatment programs, each and every one of them costing the taxpayers of Baltimore, of Maryland, of the United States, a great deal of money.

I think the best treatment program for the subway cat would be her getting a job and paying her own way, but that's just me.

her day program? whats a day program?

Its real purpose is to babysit adults--rather than children--too incompetent to take care of themselves.

But to make it "psychological"--and hence to be able to charge the taxpayers psychological fees rather than basic babysitting fees--all these subway cats sit at tables playing with Play-Doh or paints-and-paper or musical chairs or "talk."

As subway cats can't be depended upon to get there themselves for the day, some nice guy driving a little bus goes around to collect them.

I'm not talking about mentally retarded or crippled people here; I'm talking about subway cats.

In the particular case of this particular subway cat, such "day programs" are the highlight of her days, although one reasonably suspects she'd find it more exciting and fulfilling out in a job.

Even if that were true isn't the military engaging in productive activity that justifies the expenditure? I don't know what benefit the taxpayers get paying for programs for gender challenged panthers. So the program gets this thing off the streets for a few hours. I'd like to know how that benefits society.

H1N1 virus --- Lame.

They say this like this is the only H1N1 virus out there, it isn't. It's a family designation. This is the equivalent of saying ' Robert Brown is a convicted felon , therefore all people with the last name Brown are convicted felons'

Historically speaking half of the influenza strains have been from the H1N1 family, some notable exceptions are the Russian flu, H2N2 and the Bird Flu , H5N1, IIRC.

The subway cat self-admittedly has been incarcerated, or asylumized, before, and it appears to have been for a few, or several, days at a time, nothing permanent.

Probably something like what the phalloscraping primitive, the "MoPaul" primitive, has to do every so often; check in for a few days for "evaluation" and "adjustment."
