"The Obama administration is set to intensify the torture debate by releasing scores of new pictures showing abuse of prisoners held by the US in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The pictures were taken between 2001 and 2006 at detention centres other than Iraq's infamous Abu Ghraib prison, confirming that abuse was much more widespread than the US has so far been prepared to admit.

The Bush administration had repeatedly blocked through legal channels appeals from human rights groups for release of the pictures, which are held by the Army Criminal Investigation Division. But the Obama administration late yesterday lifted all legal obstacles and the pictures are to be published by 28 May.

The justice department has initially agreed to the release of 21 images of abuse at detention centres in Iraq and Afghanistan other than at Abu Ghraib and 23 other pictures. It added "the government is also processing for release a substantial number of other images". Up to 2,000 could be released.

The pictures are similar to those from Abu Ghraib that in 2004 created shock around the world, caused a backlash in the Middle East and eventually led to jail sentences for the US military personnel involved." Link

I have never seen an administration so bent on trying to destroy the previous administration. This buffoon in office is the worst. President Bush would not even speak ill of Clinton or his policies. Yet this a**hole pretender, can not wait to do anything to blame or belittle President Bush.

The Administration is playing with fire here, the Abu Ghraib pics were the biggest recruiting tool the enemy had for a year and a half after they came out. The press and the Dumbocrats have never understood that the rest of the world is not the same as Western Europe and North America.

I read elsewhere that the justification for the release of these photos is that the people's right to know outweighs the sensitivity and possible damage to national security these photos can (and will) cause. I didn't realize the "right to know" was such a holy issue in this White House.

If these photos must be released because of some preceived "right to know", even though their release promises to wreck havoc, I cannot imagine what this says about the possible damage the release of Barrack Hussein Obama's birth certificate could cause. It must really spell doom.

I had heard on the radio today, that the release is in response to a FOIA request filed five years ago. The Bush administration had so far argued successfully against their release based on harm being done to national security. We all know that national security takes a backseat to doing anything harmful to President Bush.

As far as I'm concerned, he's dancing on the graves of all the US servicemen and women who have given their life to protect us.
I'm not sure I can even articulate words for this...He is the enemy of this country, I am positive.

As we all know, the FOIA doesn't mean squat when it comes to classified info. To declassify this file is a deliberate act to sabotage the efforts of the United States military and to place those who have volunteered to protect this nation in a dangerous situation.

But The Birth Certificate is still Top Secret. We need to know why. Right now.

While I have no problem with coercive interrogation, publicizing it like this is only going to help the enemy propaganda efforts as DAT said, so yes, Obama is not only dancing on the graves of the servicemen, he is going to get more of them killed. Obama is a very loyal man, but not to the United States Of America or its constitution or the patriots who defend that constitution. This is going to be a very harsh four years (and that is assuming he will be a one-termer).

I see no problem with this type of coercive interrogation. If I had been that guard, I might have dropped the leash accidentally on purpose and let the dog take a few chomps out of him.

It's time to give up on the birth certificate issue. It seems likely he was born in Hawaii. I have never seen any evidence to suggest otherwise.

At least after our "torture" and interrogations, the prisoners were capaable of talking /walking a and moving around. After they torture and interrogate, the prisoners are usually in more than one piece.

I think we are seeing a massive propaganda ploy, designed to whip up America into a hate filled frenzy.
This is a prelude for show trails of the previous administration.

Obama is going to go Hugo on us. He has effectively described all political opposition to him as terrorists. The media is trying to paint every mass murderer as conservative (ignoring the overwhelming evidence to the contrary). O is plotting to remove guns from society. Backdoor Hush Rush bills are being worked on.

what are the consequences here? We know O wants a national security force as well equipped as the army (but loyal to him).
---> would the world cheer Obama on if he were to abolish the CIA, and replace it with his own creation (loyal to him)?

You know me, gang. I have always been pessimistic about O's admin. But now that they have power, I don't think the liberals will ever willingly give it up again. Illegal Amnesty and ACORN will see to that. And I'm picking up consistent rumors of the repeal of the 22nd amendment.

Given what little we knew about 0Bama and what little we still know about his past, it really shouldn't be surprising. Many of the same qualities that the moonbats like are the same things that were warnings to everyone else or should have been. My thoughts exactly. I think if it really becomes clear you will see states start to secede from the union. If the 22nd amendment is repealed, then we do become enemies of the state I would imagine. By then Hussein better have his republican guard in place and trained because he may have a real problem with the military; particularly when several southern states call their boys home as part of their national guard. Yeah it could get very ugly.

The 22nd Amendment is unlikely to be repealed.

What I find more likely is that it will be circumvented at some point by a declaration of martial law.

I don't neccesarily mean by the current POTUS.

I don't have a "right" to know. Seriously, my right is in freedom, not knowledge. I honestly don't care what was done to get information to protect my country. As we all knew and said, the "transparency" was going to be exposing past presidencies, not being open with his own.

Exactly...he's not the forward thinker he made himself out to be...He's all about "punishing" BushCo and giving red meat to his followers. Ya know, I don't understand this at all. How hard can it be to forge a birth certificate, especially when you have the power of the U.S. govmint behind ya? I mean, c'mon, how hard can it be to fool the American public into thinking it's the real thing?

He has certainly convinced them he is the "ONE" for better than 2 years! Gimme a break. I thought he could walk on water! What's the hold up over the birth certificate?
