I really hated his condescending nose in the air. What a liberal a$$.

Sorry for the rant. I haven't had to deal with Old 33 for a while now. I cannot believe he is saved. He hangs out with fundies to taunt and argue.
Sad really. His pride will likely find him left behind. I wonder if he'll even act on what he knows.
Sad waste of a man. 

edit to add: for those of you who don't know him, Old33 is a liberal lawyer (very likely with the ACLU). I can best describe him as a DUmmie who thinks he is superior to all who disagree with him (by virtue of his being a lawyer, and we aren't). I've had the task to cross foils with him on many occasions, and I had the pleasure to have helped (behind the scenes) him get kicked off of several boards.

When one is Drafted, it may be involuntary but they get paid for their service.  That may be the legal work around.

I am still pissed that in this "modern age" women are NOT subject to the Selective Service Act.

I agree that women should have to register for the draft too.  I think that if women really want equal rights then it should be across the board equal.

Hi,

I am really suspect about this issue.  In my generation we all had the draft to consider when we got out of high school.  I happen to believe that one of the worst things nitwit Carter did was to discontinue the draft....not for the military purpose....but for the social purpose.  It took a lot of 18 year old punks and got them squared away and 3-4 years later they came out of the military and had their head screwed on right and became productive members of society.

With that being said, I do not see anything in the post about military implications.  My fear is this could turn into Hitler's introductrination peace corps or something to promote a social agenda.  In other words, should these folks not be trained on how to defend this nation....I am totally opposed to the idea.

My guess is like most liberal ideas, there will be all kinds of loopholes so certain folks or privilege can opt out or get special jobs.....like Gore did writing for Stars and Stripes or something, in Vietnam.

I am really concerned about what the real goal of this initiative is.....

My son does a lot of volunteer, community, service work now. It's required for rank advancement and certain merit badges in the Boy Scouts. What's wrong with them pushing an entirely volunteer organization such as the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts in stead of passing this Hitler Youth bill?

OOOOP's It slipped my mind, the BSA and GSA are all about GOD and COUNTRY, can't be pushing that agenda.

I strongly dislike the idea of women having to register for the draft.  It is one thing to volunteer, but should a young woman with a child be required to go to war?  There are a number of jobs that are female dominated (teaching and child care as examples) that really don't have significant military equivalents, so how would people with those careers in mind transition back into being an employed member of society after serving in the military?  I remember talking to an older man once who served in the Vietnam war, and he was telling me he did not like women serving the military.  He told me that the women and children at home were what he was fighting for, first and foremost, and that it just did not feel right to him to have women serving in the military.  Not very politically correct, but there you have it.

How low would women's rights have to go before you would consider them "unequal" enough that they would not need to register for the draft?

Yes, to me it's no different than a man with a young child at home.  The draft shouldn't bring both parents at the same time, but either one should go.

Israel has had military conscription for women since 48.  they are even given front line jobs, like maning checkpoints etc.   Mostly however, they get service type jobs.  but like the US, every soldier is a rifleperson.

They have proven to be very effective, but the reality sometimes is very annoying to the soldier.  there is a ton of paper shuffling, and it seems every colnel wants an attractive secretary.

Women do military service for two years, men for three, but everybody is part of the reserves.   Married and pregnent women are excluded from the draft, and you would think lots of women would take this way out.   This seems to be rare.

As to the 0bama scheme, seems like re education camps to me.  Three years of slavery for everybody, all hail the messiah!
