Cooler temps today...mid 40's.  Had to get up an hour early today to take the kids to school.  Mr Flame usually does on his way to work, but he had to go to DC today, so he left early.  Now I'm reaady for a nap!

Something is eating my little apple trees.  Discovered it yesterday, a bunch of branches are broken/chewed off, and the bark around the lower trunk is chunked away.  Grrrrr.

Working tomorrow, but only a 1/2 day, so it should be pretty easy.

Sunny and colder.  Another 12-hour day.  Today, tomorrow, then "only" 8 on Saturday.  Take Sunday off.

Repeat next week.

I cannot wait for vacation.  12 days and counting, even if all I plan to do is stare at the walls.

How high up are the branches?  Rabbits are notorious for going after fruit trees.  :uhsure:

Cold and sunny here today.

It's going back up into the mid to high 40's again by the weekend.

I have to drive way the hell up north to attend an all day training class on Saturday so I get to head up tomorrow night and will be stuck up there till Sunday morning.  The funny thing is that it is training in something I have been DOING for four years but need to get certified in. Wee. :)

I shouldn't bitch.  I get to spend two nights at the palatial Super 8 hotel in Podunkia, which I am given to understand has one of them fancy See-ment ponds. :-)

Don't really want to stare at the walls during my vacation (taking 25-27 March off, plus that weekend), but don't have scads of money or time to travel anywhere just yet.  However, when I checked with places semi-close by like Foxwoods/Mohegan, NO ROOMS AVAILABLE.

WTF?  I thought this was a horrible economy, etc., etc., etc...and they can charge (AND GET) $300+ a night for a hotel room during the week?

Any ideas for a short (1-2 night) trip?  I'd love to do FL for a few days, just don't know if I have that much time and travel on that short of notice is expensive.

flights to Vegas are always cheap!  You can pretty much travel there inexpensively year round.  A couple of days there is all you need anyway :)  haha

Not that cheap.  Trust me, I've already priced them.  Even SWA is $400 r/t out of Manchester--and that's the only nonstop from there.  Jet Blue does Boston-Vegas nonstop but the times are horrible (read: redeyes) and over $500.

Then I'd have to pay to put the dog up in the kennel, parking or shuttle bus (Boston only), and hotel.

Basically, I'm looking at $700-800 before I played my first hand of blackjack.  Not so cheap anymore.

Hate to sound like a downer, but just didn't want to spend as much as all that.  I can find something closer to home, no problemo.

Geez.  lol  You can fly there from Dallas for like, $100 bucks.  Oh well :)  Sorry I'm not that helpful!

How about Nag's Head or somewhere on the Carolina coast?  Or the Smokies (Gatlinburg) or somewhere like that?

I was exhausted this morning when I woke up.  I was a couple of min late to my first class b/c of stupid traffic.  Then I almost fell asleep in my accounting class (and I never fall asleep in class!). 

I'm super busy at work and have a ton of school stuff to get a jump on.  Blah. 

I'm ready to just go back home and back into bed.

Meh.  Maybe I will stare at the walls for a few days.  Christ, I just got done living out of a suitcase for a month.

Window shopping and getting stuff ready for spring planting season isn't a bad way to kill a couple extra days.  I'm thinking tomatoes, jalapenos, an herb garden, and a few more strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry bushes would be nice come summertime.

Awright. WARNING! The following story may be hysterically funny or not funny at all. You've been warned.

My day started at 0100 when I woke up ostensibly for no reason at all, became wide awake and ready to go. But I knew that things were out of kilter because my bladder wasn't screaming at me (what usually happens after 5 hours of rack time).

And then, wafting up from the side of the bad, came the smell of the raunchiest dog fart I think I can ever remember (and there have been a few). Oh. My. God.

It became clear that the dog farts woke me up, because no sooner than one "dissipated", the dog let another one go. They were even audible, which REALLY freaked me out.

It was so bad, I got up, put my clothes on, and took Belle outside whereupon she took a leak and then a massive dump. I felt bad for her, actually, because she was full of defecate and probably was trying desperately to stifle the farts - failing horribly.

I was still somewhat wide awake, so I sat down on the couch. Belle decided she wanted to check on Mrs. E and bogarted into the bedroom whereupon she half-climbed into bed. Mrs. E exhibited no reaction, which was surprising.

I got Belle out of there and went back to the couch, but Belle was determined to keep tabs on Mrs. E. Back to bed for me, and Belle went back to laying on the floor. Next to the bed.

She wasn't done with the farts, although the interval was considerably longer - maybe 10 minutes between rips as opposed to only 2.

I managed to turn over and I think I drifted off again at 0300. The alarm rang at 0500 and here we go. I was at work at 0600 in time for a meeting at 0630, did that, and had a vendor come in at 0900. A second plant meeting at 1230, then it was time for lunch.

I went home and Belle didn't look any the worst for wear. I don't think she remembered her encounter with Dr. Flatulence.

So far so good. My nose hairs are burned out and I couldn't tell you if the freakin' building was on fire, but at least I'm not falling asleep at my desk.

Tonight I'm driving to rehearsal (40 miles one-way) where I'll get to exercise The Howitzer for awhile. After that comes the drive home. I'm not looking forward to the drive.
