Thundering ignorance that thinks it's timeless wisdom, there. In my own region, raising cattle is about the only possible form of agriculture there is, which is also true but for different reasons in much of the Southwest and Northen tier mountain areas. Here, it's too rocky and hilly to break ground with a plow here, other places it is too dry to use the land for anything but pastoral farming (alot less density of stock, of course), and others it's both. Dropping cattle farming in these areas would just bankrupt a lot of farmers and cause a huge decrease in the food supply, it does not mean crops would replace cattle.
