BWAH! GOP SecCommerce Pick Salutes Obama -- 1 Finger Style
« on: February 01, 2009, 09:00:16 AM »
Quote
Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) won’t accept a position as President Obama’s secretary of Commerce unless he is guaranteed his Senate seat remains in GOP hands, said two Republicans who know Gregg well.

Departing the Senate without one could give Democrats 60 members and a filibuster-proof majority.

“Gregg would never allow his seat to go to a Democrat, the only way he would allow it is if he died,” said a Republican close to Gregg. “He would consider it to be a breach of trust to people who elected it.” …

Republicans who know Gregg well say that Lynch must agree to select a Republican because Gregg, one of the most revered leaders in New Hampshire Republican politics, would not allow his seat to give Democrats filibuster-proof control of the Senate.

“He will not take Commerce secretary unless Lynch says he will appoint a Republican,” said the Republican close to Gregg.

Not only is this blatant nose-thumbing at Pony McHope-coke but it shines a very bright light on the fact that--after all that is said and done--Pony McHope-coke really is the machiavellian Chicago pol we always warned about.

It also dampens whatever hopes Pony McHope-coke had for hanging the failure of the stimulus around the neck of a GOP'er.

EXIT QUESTION: How come the GOP only finds its balls when its OUT of power?
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

They're not hard to find after they've been kicked.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

I'm with you, those balls ought to be throbbing and doubled in size.

Great news! Good Lord, a man in the GOP with an ounce of integrity, a RINO no less.

I Think Gregg is one of the true Moderate Republicans. Not to be confused with the regular new Englsnd Rino sellouts.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

We should have kicked 'em in the cooterbone years ago.
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

We did, in 2006.

But like another extinct species it took some time for the sensation to reach the cerebral cortex of the paleos.

Obama may make Machiavelli seem amateurish before the plunder is over.

And, yep, now the Dems will have to handle the failure, because we know that Judd Gregg's demand won't be met in, what, our lifetimes or before Obama's single term in office ends?

Beats the tar out of me, but it does seem to be that way. Go figure.

For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom of worship here." -- Patrick Henry, 1765
