I confronted a very annoying man bleating that right wing "Messiah" garbage today.

So I took the car in for an oil change today. The shop was busy and I was told it would be about an hour, so I went upstairs to the customer waiting room -- which was was small and crowded -- so I went back downstairs. Not much to do there so after noticing a few people come down the stairs from the waiting room I went back up. There were a couple of seats available now and President-elect Obama was on TV, so I picked up the front section of the newspaper and had a seat.

PE Obama started speaking on the economy and the room fell silent, all heads turned to the TV, and everyone listened intently. There was one obnoxious guy, who just happened to look like Larry David, who decided to stand right in front of the TV. No problem, I could still hear Obama. Then the obnoxious Larry David clone's cell phone started playing a very loud, annoying ring tone. He answered the phone in that loud cell phone voice people use whenever they have a captive audience to let everyone know how important they are.

"No, I can't conference now. My poor car's light came on and told me it was going to blow up so I drove it right to the shop. How many people are on the conference call? No, I can't conference with her now, I don't have any of that information in front of me." On and on.

The person on the other end must have asked the obnoxious cell user what he was doing, "Just waiting here, watching the news." Then he declared in the same loud voice, in front of his captive audience, "THE MESSIAH IS ON INTRODUCING HIS ECONOMIC TEAM."

I turned away from the TV and looked at him over the top of my eyeglasses. He looked at me. Then I said, loud enough for everyone to hear, "Obama's not the Messiah. He just seems to be the Messiah after the past eight years."

The woman on my left giggled. The woman on my right guffawed. The rest of the customers in the waiting room smiled and seemed to be on the same page as me, and they all seemed very pleased. It was as though everyone in the room realized a page has turned and we don't have to accept the propaganda and cynical garbage of the radical right anymore. We won. They're suffering from sour grapes. It's OK to let them have it.

The obnoxious Larry David clone finished his call. I was hoping he would say something more, anything more. I had all the ammo I needed and I wanted him to make my day. But the obnoxious creep was suddenly silent. He wouldn't make eye contact. He poured a cup of coffee, took a look at the magazine rack, then silently left the room.

What an asshole. I can't stand people who take advantage of situations like that, especially to force their myopic, cynical opinions on a captive audience. Then, if no one speaks up, the silence is seen as tacit acceptance of the garbage they spout. Not this time. Not today. Not tomorrow. I'm going to let these idiots have it every chance I get from now on. Eight years of misery, incompetence, corruption, and failure -- and these idiots have the nerve to criticize the PE and repeat this "Messiah" garbage before he even gets a chance to take the oath of office. They corrupt the political discourse before it even gets started.

I hate Republicans and it felt REALLY GOOD to shut this clown up. I left the shop feeling much better than when I arrived, knowing that the obnoxious Larry David clone got what he had coming. I recommend everyone do the same if and when the opportunity arises. I'm certain that, just like me, you'll feel much better after you do.


No cops or conversions but it did start with "so",had the obnoxious conservative who was shamed into silence by the clever words of the primitive.

Heard an Army SSgt go off on another person because they wouldn't shut up about how great Obama was the other day.  It was rather funny.



There, I just basically gave the same story, but the differance between the two?  I didn't need to spend two hours typing out a lie.

My story wasn't a lie by the way.

LOL, that WAS funny. My favourite parts were when the "obnoxious Republican" allegedly said a light came on warning him his car was about to explode.

"bobd0" is really an ass - he doesn't only wear glasses, he makes a point saying he picked up the FRONT section of the newspaper - no fluff for him. He ought to be watching his messiah rather than post bouncies.

 :rotf: I was in a similar situation the other day....room full of people....TV on the selected channel that no one selected....it was about noontime..... The Big "O" came on blah-blah-blah-blah..... no one said a thing......black guy in the back near the door says "Stupid nigga" and walks out... no one said anything, including me. .... but I was about to bust out laughing. :rotf:

it certainly seems that way.  I swear, gas stations are just places to get gas for me.  and their workplaces (to the extent that they have them) are fever pits of political struggle and drama, as well.

Nope; I just keep my soup coolers closed and my ears searching for potential targets for when TSHTF.

For all of that "fly on the wall" stuff, I've never heard a single incident such as the DUmmies regularly espouse, and I'm getting gas in Boulder half the time.

  Yeah he did.

I was 30 miles from home, on the liberal end of the county where all the recent homebuilding and influx of yankee newbies are. Wide eyes and mouths is all the reaction I saw. I guess it'll take a southern conservative black president to get the taste of Obama out of their mouth when this is over.

I work in a auto repair shop.........I see God awful rattletrap pieces of crap...with leftist/Obama stickers all over the rear bumpers and trunk lids...constantly.
