I'm back from Chattanooga and all the New Year's festivities there. Twas a lot of fun, enjoying the tasty wings that Buffalo Wild Wings has to offer (Spicy Garlic and Asian Zing

), watching the bowl games (WTG LSU!

But it was kind of a bittersweet victory for me. Georgia Tech was my deceased stepdad's alma mater, so for me, whoever won that one, it didn't really matter). and visiting various attractions. My family and the bf's family went together to "Deck The Falls" at Ruby Falls. That cave and underground waterfall are absolutely amazing.

The timed light show and Christmas music was a tad on the cheesy, Stone Mountain-esque side but it was also nice.

). They also had some amazing rock formations inside the cave, like the cactus and candle formation (only one we were allowed to touch) and "Weight Watcher's Lane" (the guide was making fat jokes, since that pathway was rather on the narrow side, but everyone fit through it.
The Tennessee Aquarium has a new building (new one is Ocean Journey... old building is River Journey), and why no one told me about it, makes me a little angry.

They had the cutest pair of hyacinth macaws that were more than happy to entertain the crowd with their old-couple-esque bickering. The female kept trying to shove the male off his tree branch.

And petting the sting rays? Priceless, especially when the little bastards decide they want to splash you.

The butterfly garden was lovely, and some of them were as big as a small bird.
The new sharks (sandbar and sandtiger) and penguin areas were also fun. This new area seems to have been made to compete with certain areas of the Georgia Aquarium (the tunnel underneath the main tank at GA) and I MUCH prefer how Tennessee did their tunnel. They had a shark cage available for people to step into and be locked in. This one dad was dragging his kids into it, and made a funny "Finding Nemo" reference to it.
I did get wasted on New Year's eve, but I also got sick. I'm alright now, but I won't be drinking like that again. I had about 4 23 ounce glasses of Sam Adams and a couple of Blue Moons with orange slices (they had it on tap...WOOT!) Next time, I stick to the bottles.
