ok, so a submarine that is finally completed and launched is an old, rusting (even though it wasn't in the water) hulk that was really sitting in the water with no maintenance program, right?

I must say it is pretty funny when you explode like that.

Keep talking, John.  I love it when you don't know what the **** you're talking about yet try to sound smrat.  Let the adults who DO know what's what discuss and you can sit your ass in the corner and read the posts, m'kay?  It's pretty damned obvious you've never been on a boat, been in a shipyard environment, nor do you have any idea of what it's like putting the equipment on a boat into layup.

That's very sad.  :(

I am reminded of the Kursk  - thank God this wasn't as bad.

Prayers for the poor souls and their families.  Prayers that the Russian Government is telling the truth and the rest of the crew isn't contaminated.

Here's where I'm getting a bit confused.  I'm wondering what kind of emergency air system the Russians have on their Akulas, or were there simply too many people in the compartment?  I know on the boat we could have an EAB on and plugged in, breathing air, in less than 10 seconds regardless of where we were on the boat, period.

A rapid purge would sound some sort of alarm, of course, but what about a slow leak into the compartment?

Could there have been some kind of leak that only revealed itself as systems were spun up?  And before anyone realized what was happeneing it killed those 20 people?

No it wasn't.  It was originally launched in 1991 and sat next to the pier for 16 years before they brought it out of mothballs.

...no, it wasn't.  It was launched in 2000.

When I was in 3rd ACR, there was an incident or two of tankers setting off the halon fire suppression systems in M1A1s.  I think a tank driver in 3rd ID got himself killed that way when he couldn't get out of the tank in time.  I remember one of my guys setting one of the systems off on a snap alert inspection when I was there.  The troop XO and I had some nasty words before the SMO broke us up.

No .Even in the KGB they require you to have some kind of functioning brain stem. Matrix can't even spell it.

yet it was launched in 2000.

So they started the boat in 1994. It sat in the shipyard for six years and then was launched in 2000. Now eight years later it submerged for the first time.

Nope no corrosion going on there for the first six years and definently non over the last eight years.

The KGB is known to draft intelligent people.  That pretty much leaves Matrix out.  No one can even PRETEND to be that stupid.

Worst than that IMHO...he's an appeaser and an apologist for everything they do.

Notice he ONLY shows up whenever something is mentioned about his precious USSR.
