Here's where I'm getting a bit confused. I'm wondering what kind of emergency air system the Russians have on their Akulas, or were there simply too many people in the compartment? I know on the boat we could have an EAB on and plugged in, breathing air, in less than 10 seconds regardless of where we were on the boat, period.
A rapid purge would sound some sort of alarm, of course, but what about a slow leak into the compartment?
