Do you know any McCain-Palin supporters...
who are NOT of the Christian Right religious ilk or racists/bigots?

The only McCain-Palin supporters I have found (granted, they're all around me...physically and through correspondence) are those who are Christian evangelicals and/or racist/bigots.

Do you personally know of anyone who supports their ticket for other reasons and doesn't fall under the "religious" or "racist/bigot" category?

I'm trying to understand how anyone COULD support them if they don't hold either of those beliefs, and am open to enlightenment.

Maybe the third option is the Limbaugh followers who simply hate "democrats and liberals" for the sake of hating democrats and liberals.

 :whatever:

7. yes- claim they are "conservatives"
but clearly, this makes no sense. I ask them what this means-- they get that superior look and tell me it means they are conservative.

guess they don't realize it's not that I am language impaired, it's that the Republican party is in no way conservative anymore so this makes no sense to me.

I tell them as much but they wear blank looks of smugness that you can't break through.

totally in denial about reality. don't realize they are alone in a tunnel with delusional fundies and the insane. Everyone else has jumped ship.

8. Yeah, one
He has held onto the idea that this is the same McCain from the 2000 Republican primary, and that he is only pandering to the right to get votes. He also hasn't had a chance to really read the news since early June, so the only election coverage he's heard is "Obama has a terrorist friend" and "Clinton is to blame for the financial crisis because he threatened to sue lenders who wouldn't give minorities a loan."

The rest are all religious nuts and/or gun nuts.

11. OMG I know so many and it drives me crazy..
I know several people who are voting McCain/Palin. I live in Maryland - a blue state - but we have multiple friends who are repubs and have made it clear they will vote that way. It drives me crazy because these are educated people! One or two of them are catholic but a couple of them are not religious at all. They all seem to think that their taxes will go up and the economy will go to hell if a Democrat is in office. i keep reminding them we all were so much better off with Clinton than we have been with Bush but it falls on deaf ears. Its really discouraging to me that people can be so stupid. honestly. I have to come home and read DU afterwords to make myself feel better

I live in Jacksonville Florida,I don't really know many personally, but Jacksonville is full of the Right wing goodly,Godly and"Overdosed on the Lord" type who are totally Intolerant of any other views except their own,I work with a few who told me that Lying to start a was was justified as long as it was in our best Interest.,and that sometimes you have yo do these things. One even said it was ok if we were sacrificed like what Cheney wanted to to do to start a war with Iran,or in the North-woods project, because when you join the military, you are sworn to carry out whatever the military ask you to do.
I told him it is the same reason why there was a Hitler, his response was If i don't like it,then I should leave America.
Right now we have a had these Nut cases demonstrating every day in front of a Womens Clinic for a few years now.

26. Welcome to DU, xen....
I am working with an 82-year-old gentleman who served in both the German Army (he refers to it as the "Nazi Army") and the U.S. Army at the end of the war (he had dual citizenship...long story).

He has repeatedly been warning, since Palin's arrival onto the national scene, that this is setting the stage for Nazi Germany all over again with their zealous nationalism, "us" against "them" (even within the same state!), etc.

Again, welcome

"Timeforarevolution" must feel like a shiny pearl in a sea of sludge.

I like how they say that because they are McCain/Palin supporters, they are therefor racists and bigots without any sort of examples whatsoever, because they are devoid of any.

The only thing that I hear that is prejudiced and stereotypical is "Timeforarevolution" calling McCain/Palin supporters "racist" and "bigots"  :loser:

I know how you feel.  I haven't found any Obama/Biden followers who are NOT completely stupid and selfish and who want to take from others to make up for their own incompetence.

To be completely honest I know two or three real McCain supporters, the rest are being dragged reluctantly to vote for him because Obama is an inexperienced marxist and they have hope for Governor Palin.

So in an unusual way we have a blind squirrel alert issued to the DUmp.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Yeah.  The two people I know who've made their preference completely clear both have this same attitude...what counts is what they can get back from Uncle Sam, and nothing else.  They are both older folks and worried about retirement, but I just can't see how that extra $5 a month is going to do them all that much good...   :(

Probably; it is at least possible, though.  The German armed forces were desperate for manpower in 1944 and 1945, any male not employed in a war-critical industry would have conscripted and been in uniform, generally in the Army.  The Bundeswehr was not established until German rearmament was permitted in 1956, and between about 1947 and stand-up of the BW, many 're-educated' German enlisted soldiers and young men coming of military age were allowed to join the US Army.

My mother's brother died in Hilter's Army...all that came home was his hand and the crucifix that he'd clutched.  He was 14, and on the front lines.

Granted but dipshit poo flinger is lying. The poo flinger said the man served in the US Army at the end of the war because said man held dual citizenship.
