Sniffa visits the ER

I awaken at 1:30am, discover my husband having so much difficulty breathing that I decide a trip to the ER is in order, so I.......

do NOT run straight to the computer to tell everyone here about it.  I love all you guys, and you're always supportive, but common sense.....  I'm really amazed that these moonbats don't have to post from the toilet asking how many times they should wipe......

 He can't breathe when he's laying down, and still short of breath when he's sitting up. I'm worried about pneumonia. So we're off to the hospital. Think good thoughts.

Thank you all for the good thoughts. He sounded like he had emphysema, the way he was breathing in bed. That's why I woke him up, I was scared. Everyone is fine now.

 
Asthma sucks.  I thought I was dying of pneumonia once and it was just a severe asthma attack.  Only severe one I ever had but it was scary as crap.  I don't know how people lived before allergy shots, inhalers, and anti-inflamitories!

Sniffa, one of the most obnoxious DUmmies to ever come down the pike. His wife was probably hoping he would croak while she was busy letting all of her friends know Sniffa couldn't breathe.  :loser:

They are a whole lot better than a bunch of shots and a hospital stay.

After I got out of the hospital, I was prescribed some stuff that tasted like a Screwdriver, and knocked me out just about as bad as the real thing.  I'd shake so hard, I couldn't stand up and walk.  Lots of fun. 

Use the inhaler.  There is no comparison between them and the "old fashioned" treatment.

Speaking of "old fashioned", I spent most of my youth from birth until about 5 years old in and out of the hospital with asthma. It was so bad that mom resorted to some old wives tale remedies that the DUmmies would probably swear by. She got a Chihuahua because they were supposed to help somehow. I wore nutmeg around my neck. There were several other things that I can't remember. The last one that I remember was an old native american woman told her to go into the woods and cut a hickory stick as long as I was tall and place it underneath the bed where I slept. When I outgrew the stick I would lose the asthma. Mom is definitely not a DUmmie, but sickness (or the sickness of a loved one) can sometime drive folks to do things that they wouldn't normally do. She even laughs about some of the stuff she tried to "cure" me. Personally, I love her for trying regardless of how silly they were.

Thankfully I did finally outgrow my asthma. The only time I can tell that I ever had it is if I get bronchitis or when I do strenuous work outside in the winter. My brother hasn't been that lucky. He still has to make the occasional hospital visit.
