Horrible news out of Minneapolis today. A gunman opened fire on a Catholic school during the drop-off for K-8 students, leaving multiple victims. There is no word yet on potential fatalities, except for the perpetrator, who reportedly committed suicide:

Details are sketchy, and the 24-hour rule on reliability should be observed. However, the MN CRIME account on Twitter/X usually has reliable data taken from first-responder communications, and its thread on the incident notes that there may be two deceased victims, with another "more than a dozen" transported to local hospitals. All victims have been triaged. Don't take those numbers as firmly established yet, of course,

Also, it's still not clear where the shooting took place. Some reports say it was inside the church during the opening Mass for the school day, while other media sources report it as during the drop-off period. Both could be true at the same time, of course. One source told Fox News that the shooter fired into the church from the outside during Mass, however:

1. Have DU-grade Catholic Haters and hoplophobe-ghouls jumped on these children's and their families' pain yet?

2. How many of these common boxes will the shooter check off?

* Catch-and Release criminal

* Known wolf with a long criminal record

* Felon who cannot legally possess a fire arm

* One of the Sacred Homeless

* Not legally present in the US

* Anti-Catholic

* Activist for policies/lifestyles contrary to Catholic teaching and practice

Probably not all-of-the-above, but very possibly more than one.

Update: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that two children were killed in the shooting, with at least 20 others wounded. They also confirm that the shooter fired into the church from the outside, and Auxiliary Bishop Kevin Kenney reports that the shooting took place during the responsorial psalm at Mass. Still no word on the identity of the perp, who is also confirmed deceased.

Update: My friend Rob O'Donnell, a former law-enforcement detective, reports that the perp posted a "manifesto" on YouTube relating to transgender issues that also laid out the plan of attack. Consider this unconfirmed for the moment, but this looks legitimate:

Minneapolis Shooter Identified, Videos Left Behind (Psaki and Frey Echo the Killer's Words)

First, no official source has identified the shooter (as I write this) but police have said he was in his 20s and had no criminal history. Online meanwhile, people have zeroed in on Robin Westman who posted videos showing off an arsenal prior to the attack.

A few things to notice in this clip:

* Two mentions of President Trump. One written on a magazine said "Kill Donald Trump." The other written on his rifle said "Kill Trump Now!" Both messages were written relatively small compared to some of the other things he wrote.

* "Where is your God?" written on another magazine.

* "Why so Queerious?" which is apparently a reference to this dubious piece of music.

* There are also several references to Israel including a smoke bomb on which he wrote "Extra Thicc Jew Gas." Also "Burn Israel" on his rifle and "6 Million Wasn't Enough" on a holster.

And now the identification is official:

According to KARE 11 investigative reporter A.J. Lagoe, the shooter was 23-year-old Robin, formerly Robert, Westman. Law enforcement sources said Westman grew up in Richfield and that her(sic!) mother was an employee at Annunciation School.

Meanwhile, Mayor Jacob Frey does the standard Democratic thing where he craps all over "thoughts and prayers" for the victims.

Prayer is not freaking enough.  Prayers does not end school shootings. prayers do not make parents feel safe sending their kids to school.  Prayer does not bring these kids back. Enough with the thoughts and prayers.

Update (1348ET): An absolutely tragic mass shooting unfolded at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, leaving an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old dead in the pews and injuring 17 others.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara told reporters that the shooter took his own life in the rear of Annunciation Catholic Church.

"Children are dead; there are families that have a deceased child; you cannot put into words the gravity, tragedy or absolute pain of the situation," Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis said at the news conference.

The New York Post is reporting that the shooter has been identified as "Robin Westman."

Robin/Robert Westman is the killer. He is a transgender who wanted to kill President Donald Trump. That is a terrorist.

In a resurfaced letter to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the head of the Minnesota Catholic Conference expressed that Catholic and other nonpublic schools were in "urgent and critical need" of security improvements, saying, "Our schools are under attack."

The plea went unheeded, and two years later, the concerns raised by Catholic leaders materialized when a gunman opened fire on students of a Minneapolis Catholic school while they were attending Mass, leaving two dead and 17 injured.

The letter was first reported on by the Daily Wire and was sent by Minnesota Catholic Conference Executive Director Jason Adkins and Tim Benz, president of the private school advocacy group MINNDEPENDENT. The letter was sent on April 14, 2023, and is still publicly available on the Minnesota Catholic Conference’s website.

The Minnesota Catholic Conference requested for security back to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in 2023. It was rebuffed.

The transgender man continued, "I can't cut my hair now as it would be an embarrassing defeat, and it might be a concerning change of character that could get me reported. It just always gets in my way. I will probably chop it on the day of the attack."
