I think the decision against affirmative action bodes ill for reparations

Reparations will be an attempt to make a positive difference to correct historic wrongs. Which is to say an affirmative action. I doubt if that comparison (as incorrect as it may be) will go unnoticed

It seems that sort of terribly simplistic view is exactly the sort of simplicity that would appeal to conservatives under the research of Jost et al. on cognitive motivations of conservatives. Conservative SCOTUS is affirming most of Jost's et al.'s findings.

It seems the road to racial justice has just been pointed up a hill, how long it takes for the arc in the terrain (sensu MLKjr) to flatten that challenge remains an unknown.

I would like the DUmmie show me how reparations will "correct historical wrongs". In detail, please.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

In the real world, "Reparations" are an attempt to steal $$ from people who had zero to do with slave owning and give that $$, minus bureaucratic overhead, to people who were never slaves. The magnitude of the fraud/theft is exacerbated by stealing from people whose ancestors came to the US after slavery ended and from people whose ancestors fought on the Union side.

$, minus bureaucratic overhead,

That’s the part that makes politicians salivate  :thatsright:

The whole idea is crazy, you saw the demands the committee in San Francisco made. to much is never enough.

As for affirmative action I think we have had enough and it’s time for people to take responsibility for their lives and actually earn what they want.

"I think the decision against affirmative action bodes ill for reparations."
You say that like it's a bad thing. It's not.

"Reparations will be an attempt to make a positive difference to correct historic wrongs."
Liar.
The push for reparations is really only driven by two motivations: Greed for free money, and a spiteful, vindictive desire to "Stick it to" white people as revenge for something done centuries ago by people who happened to have the same skin color as them. If that were not the case, then the people demanding reparations wouldn't be demanding them from ALL whites including those whose ancestors never owned slaves.

Don't you dare bring up Dr. King. If you were around in his day, you'd have happily joined the Black Panthers/ Nation of Islam crowd in calling him and his followers "Chumps" and "Uncle Toms" because they sought racial harmony rather than black supremacy (Hence why I find it VERY hard to believe that he'd be in favor of reparations), and used peaceful resistance tactics rather than active violence.

As if reparations had much chance of success in the first place.

I presume that a large part of the reparations will be paid by the governments of Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, &c. - all of whom sold the slaves (and thus benefited  from the trade)...oh wait, you mean it's just more of the same race-baiting nonsense? Surely not.
