So two people I know who are hard core repubs... One I work with and the other my wife works with.

The one I work with told me after mclames speech, he's done with voting repub. He's tired of the same old song and dance. He's one of the few that sees that the nation is really in trouble and is going to vote for Obama.

Now the real earth shattering one is the guy my wife works with. He is not only a hard core rightwinger, but also a major atomic fundie.

After palin's speech, he told my wife that he was totally and completely embarrassed. Now he didn't say that he would vote for Obama, but he did say he certainly wasn't going to vote for mcinsane and caribou.

I live in texas, land of the brainless rightwingers.

So if people are changing here, I have real deep and profound hope for Obama.

Cheers!

Well...

no cops in bushes...but not too bad. Short, conversions, started with "So"

5. I also know of two hardcore repubs in Texas voting for Obama
One actually signed up to work for the Obama campaign before the primaries. Once McCain selected Palin for VP, she went absolutely balistic...said it was an insult to women........let's hope there will be more backlash.

7. I wish I could say the same; I'm getting a mixed bag in my area.

One girl I work with, an intelligent Loyola foreign affairs student who's a Democrat, told me that she was undecided, but that conversation took place during the Democratic primaries when Obama was only thought to be the apparent nominee. She was concerned about his safety. I'll have to touch base with her again, now that the convention is over & Biden is the VP choice.

For the hurricane we stayed with my husband's daughter & her husband on the North Shore, & the husband said he was voting for McCain because he was the lesser of two evils. I let it drop, considering the circumstances, but I couldn't resist giving him an incredulous facial expression, which I thought would get my point across without starting an argument. Frankly, they're too busy with their careers to take the time to evaluate what's really going on. When we were listening to the radio for hurricane developments, the husband wanted to listen to his "regular" station, which had backwoodsy, redneck personalities (one's nickname was "Sugarlips") & the flavor of conversation was pro-Rethug. That's where he gets his information while driving to & from work.

I live in an area with oil/gas/chemical industries that sustain our state's economy -- that's not my opinion; it's a fact -- & most people here are looking out for their own financial preservation, rather than concerning themselves with the overall picture. On the other hand -- & I don't know what to make of this -- I haven't seen any McCain or Obama signs in yards or on vehicles. So, whether or not the Rethug supporters in my area have finally seen the reality will not be known until the election results are in.

BS! Any RWer I know who can't vote for McCain, isn't planning on shooting their foot and voting for Obama. That simply is ridiculous. What they may be speaking of are left-leaning moderates who voted for Bush in 2004 who are just returning full boar to their leftist roots. I can see Palin being too extreme for someone like that.

Ran into my first die hard democrat today. And no use to try to convert him, he's about 80 something and thinks Roosevelt was the bee's-knees.

Sorry, no bouncy.

So, I was standing in the line at the grocery store and there was a moonbat standing in front of me. I know she was a moonbat because I pulled into the space next to her while she was getting out and she had all these Hillary and Impeach Bush bumper stickers. I always enjoy parking my truck with my Marine Corps stickers next to moonbats whenever possible. Anyway, she saw that copy of Us Weekly and just became enraged! She turned around to me and said, " That's it! I've had it with them bashing her because she's a woman. If she was a man no one would say anything! I'm voting for McCain!"

I think another moonbat must have heard her and got really mad because as we were walking out to the parking lot this guy in a tie-dye shirt started yelling at her. He looked truly deranged. Luckily, a cop jumped out of the bushes and made the guy leave.

Southern men, since those are primarily those bible-thumping, women-hating, racists, down here are completely ELATED that a hard-working, conservative, moose-hunting female is on the ticket.

Go sell crazy some place else, DUmbass. Oh, that's right, you're in the right place.  :whatever:

I had a Hillary supporter already telling me that she couldn't vote for the Obamessiah, so I pointed her towards McCain.  About a month ago, I mentioned the name "Sarah Palin" to her, but I told her that I felt that McCain wouldn't pick her.  Only on Tuesday of last week (before the Dem convention) I mentioned Kay Baliey Hutchinson to her.  Said Hillary supporter said that she liked both of them.  Governor Palin especially piqued her interest.  I was off from Wednesday through Friday of last week, so this past Monday, I asked her what she thought.  She said that she really liked Governor Palin.  Then came Wednesday night . . . Thursday morning, she thanked me for turning her on to Senator McCain and Governor Palin.  She said that she was 99.9999% sure that she was going to vote for Senator McCain and Governor Palin before Governor Palin's speech.  Now, she is 100% sure that she will vote for McCain and Palin--and she is 100% sure that she is doing the right thing.

Another person, this time a SG for the New York Army National Guard, told me Thursday morning that he wasn't sure that he could vote for Senator McCain, because of his policies.  But, Governor Palin's speech cured that.  Now, he told me, he was going to vote for Senator McCain, because of Governor Palin.  I told him that he had made the right choice.  He told me that he knew it, too.
