We Need Better Masks and More Testing to Fight Omicron

President Joe Biden promised to distribute hundreds of millions of free COVID-19 tests and to open more testing sites to fight surging infections, but the stepped-up efforts will not come in time for people who want to find out if they are infected before the holidays.

Americans have been searching drugstores for scarce home tests or waiting hours in chilly temperatures at testing facilities across the country.

“Not everyone can take three hours off work to get tested, but it feels like it’s the only thing we have the power to do,” said Jordan Thomas, who waited nearly four hours for a test this week in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.

In Atlanta, drugstores ran out of home tests, and police shut down testing sites as traffic backed up a half-mile or more. A drive-thru testing site in Columbia, South Carolina, that for months had quicker lines than some nearby Chick-fil-A restaurants had waits of an hour or more days before Christmas. Workers warned that results could take longer than the typical 24 to 36 hours.....................................

Why wasn’t Joe prepared for this?  Why did he allow it into the country in the first place?

What a disastrous administration. 3 new variants allowed into the country since he took office, supplies are out of stock, more people have died.

Come on DUmmies, tell us what good your guy is doing. Even CNN is panning this administration, that has to be worrying.

Pig crap! I was in our local Walgreens a couple of times in the past 3-8 weeks and both times noted that they had in multiple displays a cumulative total of at least 50-100 dipstick quick tests. They probably had even more in their storage area. That store is in, obviously, Silicon Valley, but in a neighborhood that is much closer to worst than to best. I also know that one of my munchkins and munchkins-in-law who live a half hour from San Diego (not in kpete's tony gated community!) found and used dipstick tests very recently.

Plus or minus spot shortages due to logistics issues, I think this NYT article was lapdoggery shilling for LIEden's 500M "free" tests that cannot become available for so many months that the current Panic-Variant will be the Rho or Sigma Moronic Variant. Unlike Trump's careful prep for vaccine distribution (large quantities of vaccine produced in advance, large quantities of vials, syringes, needles, and other disposables produced in advance), LIEden's Freebies had no preparation (quantities made in advance or additional capacity brought online) and will be on top of the current volume of production ... after the Snails of Bureaucracy find and cross the starting line.

My WAG is that LIEden's Freebies won't go into circulation until somewhere in the March-May time frame (2022, of course, :-) ). That is all. :rotf:  :rotf:  :rotf:

I drove by the local Kaiser hospital yesterday and the line for testing was at the 2 hour mark in the parking lot (they do in-car testing).  It snaked completely around the perimeter of the parking lot and into the street.

Are people that scared that they are willing to spend this much time in line to get tested for something that is basically become a case of a cold or flu?  If they are doing this to see if it's safe to meet with Grandma during Christmas, they won't get their test results back for 3 to 5 days.

Since the start of the fauci flu, I have only been tested twice and both times were required testing prior to getting a minor procedure at Kaiser.

The drive-thru testing uses the PCR test. I've done it twice, once prior to out-patient surgery, once when I was 99.9% sure it would come back positive (and did).

The test kits Brandon is promising (and will deliver long after the Omicron Variant is the Moronic-Variant-of-the-Month) are the in-home DIY antigen tests that give results in 10-20 minutes.

Which explains the polls done showing that Democrats believe contracting the Chinese Wuhan Red Death automatically results in hospitalization and an utter doom.

Frankly, I'm done with even trying to reason with these idiots with facts and logic.  But I will continue to ridicule them to no end.

I won't get tested unless I'm sick enough to go the emergency room.

Munchkin and munchkin-in-law are here for Christmas, so I asked at a general level about test availability in their area. One is in and out of customer facilities and does the dipstick tests with some frequency (customers' rules). They buy on Amazon and at local drugstores and have had no problems finding test kits.

Like I said, the NYT article was lapdog-shilling for LIEden's 500M "free" tests PR stunt.

Nobody ever accused New Yorkers of being intelligent. Now mean, evil, and communists yes.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I mentioned in another post that our Christmas plans were changed when my sister tested positive on a home test kit on the morning of 12/24.  She spent 4 hours at an urgent care facility on Friday to get a PCR test and got the results back this morning that she is indeed positive.  She says she feels fine except for feeling like she has a mild cold.

Her main reason for getting confirmation is because she visits our 89 year old mother who is in a board and care facility for dementia patients every few days and doesn't want to make any visits until she has kicked the fauci flu.

So it appears that the chi-vi has mutated down to a minor annoyance for 99.9999999% of the population and not the assured death sentence the left continues to play it up to be.

sure there will be deaths for the omicron bug for people with certain medical conditions, but how is that any different from a cold and flu season from years gone by?
