Part of the sentencing for 1/6 offenders should be :::

I've seen judges impose all kinds of things as part of sentencing. Community service. Can't use the internet. Can't associate with this or that group.... You got caught dog fighting, now you have to support animal rights organizations... Have to donate money to this or that cause related to the person(s) you harmed....

It seems to me that part of the sentencing for the 1/6 offenders should be that they have to not only stay away from Qanon quackery but how about they have to make a public statement saying that the election was not stolen and other efforts to publicly demonstrate that they now believe it was all BS? I would actually be OK with a slightly reduced sentence if they are willing to make a public statement, to say that they got sucked into a big lie, and to do other things to publicly discourage others from falling into the trap.

Some of the offenders have already done that. When they got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, and had to go to court/jail, it made them realize it was all bullshit, and they've stated that in court.

I think a concerted effort to very publicly acknowledge that they were duped and the election was not stolen, and that they made a mistake, and that the election fraud stuff is all lies, it could have an affect on some of the others who are getting sucked in and could have a positive affect overall on healing our country and it would reduce the possibility that the problem continues to get worse. And that is what we need.

I'm not a lawyer but I would think judges have the ability to include things like this in the sentencing.

first off, I have been a life long conservative and have no clue where or how to contact anyone involved with qanon but assume it is mostly an internet driven thing, but preventing those accused of taking part in the January 6 protest from associating with people on the internet or forcing them to make a statement they may not agree with seems to be in violation of their First Amendment rights.

Those who believe the election was stolen or that hold the view that something fishy definitely happened on election night and that the likely result of that was Slo Joe became prez (which questions his legitimacy) are not influenced by what a bunch of 01/06 people did or didn't do. To believe them coming out and saying these things would have any measurable effect at all is  :mental:

If the garybeck primitive really wants "healing (in) our country", then he'd quit voting for LW whack-a-doodles like Clinton and Obama and Biden. Until I see some marked change in garybeck's warped political viewpoints, I see no reason to allow myself to be unequally yoked with evil, and neither do other conservatives.

It's been done before.

According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Yeah, well, I think that the entire CBC should be forced to acknowledge the legitimacy of the elections of 2000, 2004, and 2016, ALL of which they claimed were stolen.
