I think what I like best is their "justification" that Republicans would've done the same thing. The Republicans would've been hateful rumormongers so it's really okay for US to do it. "We're the party of peace, love, and tolerance. They're the party of war, hate, and wanting to be inside everyone's bedroom. So, we're not really being intolerant, hateful, and petty...even if it is directed at a 16 year old...because THEY are really, really, really intolerant and hateful and so damn MORAL.
But here's what you assholes are missing while you're trying to play morality police. Those of us who teach abstinence DO have a MUCH lower rate of teen pregnancy than those who hand out condemns like Halloween candy. I have an adult son who's still saving himself for marriage, and he's a Marine...if you don't think that gets him some razzing you'd be fooling yourself. I've also had one of his devoutly MUSLIM teachers tell me he wants to send his own son to us to raise so he could be just like Jake.
However, my oldest son put the cart before the horse, so to speak and got his girlfriend pregnant. He did the right thing and MARRIED her. They've had a few ups and downs because they just weren't ready, but both come from Christian homes where family was always first so working on making their family strong became a priority. Having "morals" doesn't mean you're perfect or that you won't make (huge) mistakes. But it DOES mean you do the right thing to turn those mistakes around...and even learn enough from them to make your life and the lives of those affected, better.
My cousin's daughter thought she was "in love" and got pregnant. The "love of her life" turned out to be a creep (he probably posts at DU) and wanted nothing to do with her or her baby. Because they're pro-life, abortion was NOT an option. My cousin's daughter decided to keep her baby rather than put it up for adoption and my cousin took care of the baby until her daughter graduated from high school and then nursing school (she lived at home and during the hours my cousin's daughter WAS home my cousin made her take full responsibility for her child). We consider that to be a hand up, not a hand out. She has subsequently met a very nice Christian man who married her AND adopted her daughter.
In high school I had a very close friend who got pregnant. Her and her boyfriend knew they were too young to care for a child and opted for adoption. She found a wonderful family and in her head she KNEW her baby was given a better life, but her heart was breaking. For months afterward she cried, but she knew she did the right thing. Sucking that precious life out of her womb while it was still "a piece of tissue" would've been the easy thing...no months of feeling it kick, hearing it's heartbeat, knowing a child is growing inside you...but it wasn't necessarily the right thing, nor the responsible thing.
See, what you idiots don't understand is that every single Christian knows we ALL fall short. Morals, Biblical principals give us a way to lift ourselves up, to reach higher than ourselves. Character isn't always determined by "following the rules" (even the arbitrary ones YOU seem to think you can set for people who have greater morals than your average banana slug). Character is determined by what you do to pick yourself back up when you do fall short.
In the case of Sarah Palin...IF your twisted, vile fantasies WERE true, the MOST important thing is to protect the innocent LIFE that cannot protect itself. That is the MORAL thing, the RESPONSIBLE thing, the most DIFFICULT thing. Abortion is the easy, selfish way out. How individual families handle hardships isn't MY business. It isn't YOUR business. I don't expect you to adopt my moral standards (you simply aren't capable...you're much too weak) but I DO expect you to leave me alone so that I can reach as high as I'm able. When (not if) I fall short my friends, family, and my Lord will be there to pick me back up and hold me up until I can once again reach up on my own. The fact that you are so superficial and self-absorbed prevents you from understanding these simple truths.
So go ahead and spread your filth...the fact of the matter is a precious child of God has been given a chance at life. There isn't a sin in the world that can trump that.
