What is the logic behind this argument the left always throws up when voter ID is the topic. Are they insinuating that People of Color are to lazy or too stupid to have some form of valid ID?
Does the TSA asking for ID at the airport disenfranchise POC, elderly and people who don't drive?
I think Voter ID might possibly be the 2nd most important issue facing our country right now and hope Trump and the Republicans can somehow address it. It's something that I think it's seriousness is often overlooked, even by a lot of Republicans (I would love to see a nationwide voter ID law tied to immigration reform..)
Supposedly it is just incredibly difficult for people who don't have transportation, handicapped, etc.. to get to the BMV. Now... if that's the case, how are they going anywhere? And if they aren't driving.. they HAVE to leave at some point either to get a ride, or go to the store, or something. Even applying for public assistance, is going to require a state ID or Drivers License... so they should have at least one of those.
Then once they can't figure out how to overcome that, they say an ID is a poll tax. This is a terribly weak argument IMO, but I can see how it might waffle a weak minded fence sitter on this issue. Personally, I'm a fan of how Indiana fixed this issue when the liberals cried about it when we passed voter ID... the state waived all fees for voting age adults to get a state ID. You go in with your documents to prove your identity, proof of residence, etc.. and you can get a State ID for no charge.
Once they realize an ID is free and there is no poll tax, at this point it's expensive to take off work, lines are long, etc. Well if you're working... YOU SHOULD HAVE A FREAKING ID, since no employer will hire you without one.
It's a big circle jerk trying to talk to a liberal about this.
