Dem's drop "safe, legal and rare" language from abortion position
Via Kay Steiger at Pushback:
It looks like the Democratic Party dropped the "safe, legal and rare" part of its platform on choice. The new platform (PDF), which was just released, puts less of an emphasis on the controversial abortion reduction framework. The section on choice reads as follows:
"The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.
The Democratic Party also strongly supports access to affordable family planning services and comprehensive age-appropriate sex education which empowers people to make informed choices and live healthy lives. We also recognize that such health care and education help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies and thereby also reduce the need for abortions.
The Democratic Party also strongly supports a woman's decision to have a child by ensuring access to and availability of programs for pre- and post-natal health care, parenting skills, income support, and caring adoption programs."

It's only a small bonfire right now, but the primitive comments are unsurprising.

1. Wow! What a wonderful improvement!
This is much better than the DLC "safe, legal and rare" nonsense that sounded very much like they thought it was icky doodle and were forced into accepting choice but would drop it at the first convenient moment.
This program will actually work, so of course it will be attacked by the dreamers.
You know, I've been watching the warped primitive for quite a while now.
The warped primitive, a
femme, is late middle-aged, divorced, and at one time an R.N. (registered nurse), and a resident of Massachusetts, now a resident of the "desert" (Arizona or New Mexico or Nevada, one assumes).
The warped primitive has a great many commonsensical ideas about frugal living, cooking, home improvement, gardening, whatnot. In fact, next to the hippowife primitive, the warped primitive has become my favorite primitive, and I'm often loathe to criticize her.
The "image" one gets from reading the warped primitive is that she's a rather manly woman, stockily built and perhaps with some facial hair and a husky voice. If I were in a barroom brawl, I'd like to have the warped primitive on my side; if I were stuck in the snow, I'd like to have the warped primitive help push me out.
At the same time, the warped primitive is after all a woman, with the womanly desires to be appreciated, to be thought aesthetic, to be given flowers once in a while.....but one suspects that because of her manly appearance, the warped primitive's never been treated as a lovely woman.
People who have suffered much pain and rejection go one of two ways: the right way, where they develop a sensitivity to the pain and rejection of others, such as unborn infants wishing to live, or the wrong way, where they Hate all things good and decent and civilized.
I've always wondered why the warped primitive turned left, instead of right.
