I made it through the holidays without putting on any weight.
I don't know about your families, but with my family and my in-laws it's a non-stop feast from Thanksgiving until after the New Year. We just spent our last restaurant gift card that we got for Christmas the other night. Today I hopped on the scales for the first time in over a month. I was surprised to see that not only did I not gain any weight, I actually lost a little bit. That's a very positive sign that what I'm doing is having a lasting effect on my eating habits.

I weighed in at 301.0 today. That sounds like a lot, but considering it was 354 last April it's a big improvement. So the weight has been coming off slowly, but it has been coming off. And now I'm ready to get back into it full swing. My next short term goal is to get down below that 300 mark. I haven't been there in six years. The long term goal is 230. That's what I need to get down to and maintain.

I started this journey when I failed a D.O.T. physical because my blood pressure was too high due to my weight. I can't work without that physical card. The doctor put my on a blood pressure med and I then passed the physical, but he said that if I got down below 300 I shouldn't have to take the medication. My next physical is due in November of this year. I'd like to pass that without being on a blood pressure med, and I'm hoping I will be close to my goal by then.

Nothing I did seemed to make any difference until i tried "The Potato Hack". I have lost 12.5 pounds in the last 18 days.

I got down to my perfect weight during chemo! That's about fifteen - 20 pounds, but I'm only 5'2'. I won't bore you with the details, but my digestion AND my taste buds were very messed up. i was actually drinking regular ginger ale (with sugar).When food started to taste good again I went a little crazy...now I'm overweight again and jumped back onto the low-carb horsie.
it's a battle, all right. I got a gift in the mail yesterday from my daughter, and I'm sure it's a box of expensive chocolate -- I'm afraid to even open it!

Bake a pie, eat a pie.

Just because they put it out there doesn't mean you have to hoover it all up. 

So that's what happened concerning his job.  He failed the DOT physical.  I can see where that would piss a person off and make him irritable and despondent, seeing as it was his own fault. 

Tobin, please do not take that guy's potato advice.  Another DUmmie went that route, and he's dead now.

I have let myself go,216 lbs on an average frame and height.
Since Jan 4th I have given up alcohol and junk food,started keeping track of calories and taking walks plus other workouts.
No weird diet,just better stuff and better portions.

Lost 8.5 lbs (no doubt a lot was fluid) since and my blood sugar level has dropped from a fasting pre diabetes level to normal.

It is a simple formula.

That's not for me.  I just make sure to burn it off. I'm about the same as when I was 16.

DUche Tobin that diet is bullshit. Go on the all you can drink beer and rum and coke diet. I know, it sounds crazy but my wife's mother's hairdresser's daughter in law has a friend from college that lost 200 pounds in 4 months. It's so simple even a DUmmy can follow it.

1. Wake up by 6:30 and pop three dark beers down your gullet before 8:00.
2. Have at least a six pack of pilsner by noon.
3. Here is the secret, pound down at least three rum and cokes by 3:00 in the afternoon. Don't use a lime as that screws everything in your metabolism off.
4. Between 3:00 and 6:00 get at least a blockhead under your belt.
5. After 6:00 go back to rum and cokes but during this phase use limes.
6. Make sure you "go to sleep" by 10:00.

You are going to be amazed at how much weight starts to fall off of you.

Holy shit 300 lbs is a lot if you are a sedentary person.  I hope he loses a bunch of weight before he has a stroke/heart attack.
