What's for Dinner, Sun., Mar. 6, 2016

Cold chicken with wasabi sauce.

Raw asparagus, chopped into 1-inch pieces.

White wine and a chocolate doughnut from Dunkin' Donuts for dessert.

I cooked the better part of the morning, making another one of those vegetable cheesecakes, only this time I used my own combination of vegetables, which was zucchini, lots of dill, parsley, and asparagus for the vegetable. For color, I mixed in a little red and yellow pepper. Turned out very good, and now I'll have something to have early in the morning before heading off to work.

Vegetable Cheesecake?

2. Taters.

Nothing else.  Then he goes into a looooooong diatribe about weather, some habitat for humanity project, then onto income taxes.  Too heavy for my boat.

What does Judy imagine she's having?

It's always better on the third day. A salad made with Trader Joe's baby power greens and cauliflower florets and toasted hazelnuts with a dijon vinaigrette. For lunch I had the last cup of a pot of chicken tortilla soup from early in the week. It was so delicious that I wanted lots more.

Right.   :lmao:

7. It was so beautiful that I did most of it on the grill. Grilled turkey breasts,

grilled zucchini smeared with basil pesto, grilled pineapple. Mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, broccoli & tomato salad, and 3 kinds of cookies for dessert. My sister made oatmeal raisin cookies, lemon thumbprint cookies, and a killer brownie from a recipe that was handed down by our late Aunt Ida.

Here's another example of Erich's verbal diarrhea, from another day's menus:

1. pizza night.

I've got to take the dough out of the fridge around 3:30 to let it rise. Not sure where I'll go with toppings. I know I've got plenty of canned pineapple chunks, so that'll be there. Maybe some blue cheese. I've found a couple of fairly mild blues I really like of late - Carr Valley Glacier Point Blue was one, the other is eluding me entirely atm, but I'll know it when I see it again. Maybe a bit of bacon, and I've got some onions, although I was planning to use those tomorrow, so maybe not. Banana peppers instead, I think.

My new apple tree is set to ship within a week, so I'll need to get out and start digging the hole for it while the weather is nice, as well as seeing what garden space I've got that hasn't been claimed by other things. I'd like to move the saffron crocus, but I don't think they'd get enough sunlight in the bed out between the current apple trees, so they're taking up space in one of the beds I used to use for veggies. Might just put more flowering plants in that one, I guess.

Blah blah blah!

Canned pineapple chunks, but then the most flatulent, name-dropping discussion of cheese you can imagine. What a bunch of dicks.

1. Breakfast.

Big old rainy day here, just got my federal and state taxes done for 2015 (using tax software). Found that what was chopping my owed tax in half was not the self-employment deduction, but the earned income credit. So that makes me feel better that I actually wasn't screwing up the self-employ worksheet earlier. I'll still have to do the city taxes, and then get on to doing estimated quarterly payments starting by April 15 for this year.

Then, NJCher and Woodsprite start talking about putting chia and flax seeds into everything, everything, to up the fiber level.  Full of shit as usual.

I'm going to finish up my orange chicken that I didn't get done last night.

For dessert, more of this delicious melon (cantalope, honeydew).

If I can pick up some chia or flax seeds, I'm going to experiment with putting them into the above.

On Thursday, she got all the prep done for the Orange Chicken, then just pooped out, just quit.  Who does that?  Is that so tiring?

Speaking of fiber:

Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Because only the left goes searching for that which is not there in a desperate attempt to be offended about something.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams
