Or maybe it's too late and Mother Nature is winding up to kick us back into the stone age. We're not the first innovative species on the planet to experience exponential growth followed by collapse.
Here's a hint DUmmie. The human species will go extinct, whether by virus, meteor or supervolcano. All evidence of our ever being here will be wiped out. The earth doesn't care what lives here. Dinosaurs, Neanderthals, Humans. Earth doesn't care.
Then, in a billion or two years, something else will crawl out of the water, and whatever they evolve into, will inhabit the earth, until THEY go extinct.
This will happen over, and over, until the sun goes super-nova and the earth becomes a cold, lifeless, colorless rock spinning around in the universe.
I doubt I'll be around long enough to see that.
