Taiwan 6.4 earthquake hits city of Tainan, casualties unclear

A 6.4 magnitude struck southern Taiwan in the early hours of Saturday morning causing at least two buildings to collapse.
Rescuers are working in the city of Tainan and it is unclear whether there are any casualties.
The city government is reported to have set up an emergency team. Tainan is home to nearly two million people.
The quake was shallow, so its effects would have been amplified, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

A couple of questions here.

"water dropping helicopters"--does the cousin mean the clouds were raining helicopters instead of water?

And when did the cousin change her avatar?  Is she claiming to have been an astronaut now?

Nads would do well to state that a shallow quake does not amplify the damage, it reduces its ability to spread things around.

I thought a shallower quake caused more localized  damage and was less likely to even be felt farther away.

Think of a shallow earthquake as your childhood improvised explosive device set off on the surface of the local pond versus one that you let sink to the bottom.  One gets you lots of fish while the other blows the hell out of the ducks swimming near it.

Science means trying it yourself.

I take it that you're into 'science,' eh? :whistling:

Admittedly I only use science to stabilize the results, but I like to witness energetic events whenever possible and insure no innocents get harmed.

I think gNads has had too much local anesthesia to the inner skull cavity.

The nads-quake was shallower still.

It's good that it was relatively shallow, in the sense that Taiwan's second largest city, Taoyuan is about 40 miles south of Tainan. Of course, it was terrible for anyone lost in the collapses and their families.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

Unpossible.
Weebles may wooble sort of thing.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”
