Newspaper endorsements;
I have personal experience with our local paper when I ran (unsuccessfully) for a county office.
My interview was reasonable and I felt I answered all questions intelligently and succinctly.
The paper came out for my opponent. I guess it was no surprise since the paper was a democrat rag, but I later learned my opponent spent quite a bit of time "loitering" in the offices of this paper.
A few days before the election, a reporter posted a story that was mostly false about me. When confronted, the reporter admitted she did not feel it was necessary to contact me about the story before publishing. She merely said it was fact based.
Yeah right, facts from my opponent. The reporter's father was a democrat committeeman.

Yes I was young and naive but taught me a lesson about newspapers. To this day I have never again subscribed to a newspaper. Political news I get from political people dems and repubs alike. Back then (45 years) "most" dems I knew were surprisingly honest.
Today things are even worse because newspapers, radio, TV outlets are mere sub-divisions of the democrat party.
I have always lived in a democrat area so I cannot speak about any areas that may be republican controlled.
As for the republican party in my area, they are very much like the national party......too willing to "work across the isle" or to put it more bluntly, in cahoots with the democrats.
At first I was attracted to Trump but his background makes me think he is more of an establishment republican and/or democrat than a real conservative.
