Des Moines Register endorsements
« on: January 22, 2016, 06:04:54 PM »
Will be released tomorrow at 5 pm.

Not that they mean much anymore.  But Ralphie's predictions:

Crazy Uncle Bernie.  Just a hunch.  Hillary had her fourth or sixth sit down conversation with the editorial board.  So think she has been trying to cozy up to them.

They will decline to endorse a Republican.  Maybe Rubio, Christie or Carson.  Would never endorse Cruz or Trump.

We shall see.  Newspaper endorsements used to be a big deal.  Not so much anymore as papers don't sell & people get news from other sources.

I want to see the endorsements of former Union brothers and union of the Big Guy.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Kind of why I suspect they will endorse Crazy Uncle Bernie.  And..know that they hear the whispers of possible indictment of Hillary.  He has great support amongst unions.

DR has always leaned Left. I refuse to read it.

But Hillary met with them 4 times? That means they will endorse her. She's likely threatened them by now. They will have no choice but to bow to the machine.

I still subscribe. Am of the age where I'm just used to reading an actual paper rather than online.

Plus, I'm wasting trees!  But you are absolutely correct. DM Register is really a leftist rag.

Yep...the Clinton Family Crime Foundation bought it.  Hillary got the endorsement.

I'll bet the Bernie bullies are apoplexic.

Too bad.

Rarely watch local news, but subject myself to local paper.  Bet Hillary will be out at hog farms early & often over the next 9 days.  Lowering herself to gather amongst the unwashed farmers.

Still suspect Crazy Uncle Bernie will win here.  Should be interesting.

There was an article about the Manchester Union-Leader in the New York Times today; about how a small newspaper had an influence much greater than its size, a category in which one can also include the Des Moines Register-Tribune, which appears to have enjoyed its greatest reputation during middle three-fifths of the last century, say circa 1920-1980.

The Omaha, Kansas City, and Minneapolis-St. Paul newspapers, although bigger, never seemed to exert the same degree of influence.

Sort of like how the Emporia Gazette was once an influential newspaper, nationally.

Along something unrelated, the Omaha World-Herald, the only big-city daily newspaper with an afternoon edition, plans to cease that edition about six weeks hence.  The only big-city daily newspaper in America with an afternoon edition.

Looks like they went with Clinton and Rubio for their endorsements.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Newspaper endorsements;

I have personal experience with our local paper when I ran (unsuccessfully) for a county office.
My interview was reasonable and I felt I answered all questions intelligently and succinctly.

The paper came out for my opponent. I guess it was no surprise since the paper was a democrat rag, but I later learned my opponent spent quite a bit of time "loitering" in the offices of this paper.

A few days before the election, a reporter posted a story that was mostly false about me. When confronted, the reporter admitted she did not feel it was necessary to contact me about the story before publishing. She merely said it was fact based.
Yeah right, facts from my opponent. The reporter's father was a democrat committeeman.  :whatever:

Yes I was young and naive but taught me a lesson about newspapers. To this day I have never again subscribed to a newspaper. Political news I get from political people dems and repubs alike. Back then (45 years) "most" dems I knew were surprisingly honest.

Today things are even worse because newspapers, radio, TV outlets are mere sub-divisions of the democrat party.

I have always lived in a democrat area so I cannot speak about any areas that may be republican controlled.
As for the republican party in my area, they are very much like the national party......too willing to "work across the isle" or to put it more bluntly, in cahoots with the democrats.

At first I was attracted to Trump but his background makes me think he is more of an establishment republican and/or democrat than a real conservative.

Had the opportunity to attend a focus group a few weeks ago.  Two way mirrors, filmed, the whole deal.  Was conducted by a well known pollster/consultant.

A reporter for our rather prominent paper was behind the glass, and wrote a long story in the following Sunday rag.  He even got facts wrong of what was said.
